I like it. The only thing is though. I hate how it folds open on unlock. Lets you you need to run to the car and get something out and not go anywhere now the mirrors have to fold in and out when your not even leaving. I'm sure they have a life span on them. The more they fold will shorten there life.

Good job, wonder what relays you used.

I debated on the function long and hard. In the end, I'm glad I chose this route. Also, it will be wired so that I can disable the auto feature by simply leaving the Main toggle switch in one position.

OEM wires them so they fold in on LOCK and out on KEY 'ON'.

This was what I WAS going to do, but I like being able to control them 100% remotely, makes the 'bling' factor much better. After all, that's what this really is all about.

Also I can deactivate via remote by simply pressing the lock button right before the unlock button.

The relays are pulse triggered and the output (folding) is timed, if both are active at the same time, nothing happens. So if I don't want them to fold out, I just hit lock before I unlock the car, and they won't move.

Likewise in reverse, if I didn't want them to fold in on 'lock' I just press unlock first.

And again I use the JDM folding toggle switch that manually completely deactivates the auto feature. it will also work manually.

the wiring is fairly complex to figure out, but because I've already dug it all up and drawn the circuit, it'll be fairly straight forward if one of you want to do it also, I'll have that thread up sometime maybe tonight if I get time.
You can choose other triggers for the fold such as the Key "ON" to fold out as well.

No, but you can add that to it.

Trying to sort this out. There's some compatibility issues that were unforseen:

-- The USDM/JDM triangular bases are different. We know that already
What we/I didn't know is that it seems it's not just that notch for the motor, but the actual angle of it is different. This causes the angle of the mirorr on the Driver side to be way off, limiting your viewing angle even if you swap the internal tilt motor........

-- I tried using the USDM bases. This led to the Passenger mirror folding in almost touching the glass (perfect, IMO, looks wicked)
But.... the driver side didn't fold in remotely close by comparison.

-- So I put the JDM base on the Driver side. This resulted in it folding in way more, but still not as much as the passenger side.
It also gave me the crappy viewing angle I mentioned earlier.

^^That's with the mirror tilted all the way out on the driver side. JDM base. Still see 1/4 of the car in view.

It's bearable I guess, but not ideal by any stretch.

-- To equal the fold in appearance, I suspect I'll have to put the Passenger JDM base on, which should result in the mirrors folding in evenly. I guess I'll have to test it and find out.

I am hoping JDM cain can snap a couple photos of how much his mirrors fold in with his setup.

I'm trying to make sure I have all the information correct, and that I haven't simply installed something wrong. But so far I'm not thrilled with the results I'm getting, and I'm hoping that I can find some middle ground between how much they fold in, and the viewing angle.

^Great info, thanks for detailing all of that out. JDM_Cain can you chime in on how your viewing angles look with your setup?

Nice work man! I was going to do this also but I needed to run 4 extra wires anyways so it didn't make sense. (Defrost & puddle light)

I pm'd him about it I'm sure he's working on it.

he did verify that he has the same angle issue. So does neo_anderson.

We'll get it cleared up. I think there's some differences about fold in amount between Chris and I, so hoping the pictures can verify some of this. I'll show some of the fold in on mine soon.

This thing is a pain but a good learning experience. As long as my car runs I guess I can deal with it.

Tuner I'm wondering if we just use the USDM base for the driverside and notch it a bit and use the JDM pass side since that one isnt much of a problem.

I noticed on the pass side the mirror doesnt turn in much but turn out alot. IDK.
