CD ERR F0 -- any decent options?

Yeah, I searched. And I knew someday this was coming .. today was the day. After almost 9 years, my 6-disc Bose head unit has apparently given up the ghost. I have an 03.5 sedan, without NAV.

I know I can get it repaired on fleabay for $150 + shipping. I know buying a new one is not a viable option due to cost, especially given age of the car. I know you need to drop $250+ just to get the parts necessary for the privilege of swapping out the head unit to a double din.

Are there any other options that are more viable? Any experiences with removing the head unit and taking it to a local repair shop? Thanks.

Fixing the stock radio not worth it.. You should just buy the DD kit and put another radio in

On a 9-year-old car with 139k? That's a tough call. I think I would get this one fixed before doing that. The problem with this issue being so common is a) even buying a used one just puts you on the clock for it happening again and b) people really seem to be asking a lot for used ones given this problem is so common on them.
