BRAKE PADS??????
BRAKE PADS??????
I have about 25% left on my front pads and will soon need to change them..What is the best place to get new pads that will last longer than the factory ones and aren't too expensive as well?..Are ceramics or metallic the way to go??
Any brands that I should focus on?? I want something that will last at least double the factory ones?? Can I just purchase the factory ones from the dealer and install them myself??? Anyone know how much they cost for a set?? Any advice on having them done at a local brake shop, Midas, etc..??? Any feedback will be very helpful.

Re: BRAKE PADS??????
The G35 hasn't been around long enough to recommend any pads that will necessarily last longer than the stock pads. Besides the life of any brake pad will vary depending on your driving habits.
My dealer quoted me a price of $85.76 and $73.82 for the front and rear, respectively, for the OEM brake pads. I found that I could get them much cheaper at www.nissanparts.cc costing $45.69 for the front and $39.33 for the rear. Fyi, the part numbers are 41060-AM890 (front) and 44060-AL585 (rear).
When my brakes are due for replacement, I'm personally considering going with the Hawk Performance HPS brake pads on the front (HB-268) and stock pads on the rear. The primary reasons for the Hawk brake pads on the front are that the manufacturer claims that they produce low dust and have a long extended life. The low dust is the main benefit I desire. Several owners on this forum and freshalloy have corroborated the manufacturer's claims. www.essexparts.com quoted me a price of $57.11 for the front Hawk brake pads. They claim that the Hawk HB-180 for $63.36 are for the rear. I'm in the process of confirming this with Hawk Performance.
I hope this helps.

Another low-dust option is EBC GreenStuff pads. The part number for the fronts is floating around here on a different thread...

Do the Hawk Pads last any longer than the oem pads???

Don't know. Never used the Hawk brand or the OEM pads before.

How easy is it to replace the pads if I buy them myself?? Or would I be better off taking it to the dealer to them? How much are they charging for it anyways???

Don't know that either. I'm likely to have the dealer do it.

ATTENTION!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with the customer service rep (Dee) from Hawk Performance Products, the vendor of the HPS brake pads and she's informed me that the HB-268 is for the coupe ONLY and that they currently do not have any brake pads for the sedan or the rear of the coupe. She gave me "FMSI D960", the industry reference number, for the front brake pads that can be used to cross-reference with other vendors brake pads. So I guess I'm staying with the OEM brake pads for now.
I'm sorry for any confusion my earlier post may have created.
