Weight of OEM 6-spoke Sedan Wheels

I did a search, but could only find the weight of the sport wheels for the sedan (23lbs incase anyone is interested). I'm looking for the weight of an OEM 6-spoke wheel (non chrome) WITHOUT the tire.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Rich

That's funny. So the stock non-sport 6 spoke wheels weigh less than the stock 5 spoke sport wheels? Dumb on Infiniti.

That actually happens a lot. Less spokes often mean that more material must be used to maintain the same strength in the wheel. For the sake of esthetics, sometimes things are compromised.

Wait, are you saying they are made by RAYS? Or are you saying they WERE supposed to be made by RAYS but didn't go through?

The 350z has RAY wheels, I don't think the G35 sedan has any wheel designed by RAYS. I actually can't stand the stock 5 spoke sport wheels on the sedan, I think the 6 spokers look a lot nicer.

Odd, I can't stand the 6 spokes and think the 5 spokes look alot more appropriate on the car (esp if you go the spoiler route).

To each his/her own I guess.

Anyone know what the new 05 wheels weigh ?

Also, if I were to get my 17s repainted the color of the 05 wheels, what is the actual name of the color ? I think what I dislike the most about the pre-05 wheels is the bright silver color.

I've read people who prefer it your way as well, and obviously the design people at Infiniti probably feel the same way as you do (but then again they also dropped the ball on the first G35 trunk so who knows??).

I'm not a fan of the plastic center cap on the 5 spokes, that's my major problem, it just doesn't look as refined.

Do you guys have any thoughts on the chrome exchange wheels on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

Since this is close to me in SoCal, I could actually drive there and do the exchange.

I thought about these when I bought the car, but it was a $1600 option !

Just wondering what you guys take was on stock chrommies.

Well, the total weight of the shipment is 120lbs (according to the ebay auction). That means each wheel is around 29lbs (removing some weight for the box, etc) - that is 7.5lbs per wheels, or 30 extra pounds of rotating mass. The common thinking that I've heard is that for every pound of rotating mass that you remove from your car (think wheels), you save 8 to 10lbs of overall weight. So if you add 30lbs to your wheels, you've basically just put 240 to 300 pounds of dead weight in your car. What this means is that you are hurting the performance of your car when you put heavier wheels on it.

I was told by a wheel dealer that chroming adds an average of 10 lbs per wheel! Way too much IMO for a bit of 'bling'!
