05 Sedan Upkeep

I bought an 05 G35X with 68k miles on the clock in January of this year. I love the car! I am now up to 73k on the odometer. But I have no clue as to what maintenance the previous owner completed.

Ive done quite a bit of reading and want to keep this car running in tip top shape. I am no mechanic but I am very good at following directions and with a decent DIY guide I can get the job done.

Anyways, I am wondering what maintenance items I should be looking to do. After doing a good amount of reading on the forums I have performed the following work to my car:

-Rear Axle Click Fix
-Oil Changes at 3k intervals with Royal Purple and KN Gold filters.
-Power Steering Flush with Valvoline Dexron Vi Full Synthetic ATF

What I have planned in the next week after doing readings here:
-AT Drain and Fill with Matic-S (I've read that the trans is picky and needs this)
-Redline SI-1 on my next fill up

I would love to hear anyones opinion on what I should be looking to do to improve the longevity of this vehicle or comments on what I have planned.

Thanks!

Go 5k on oil changes with synthetic. Change you rear differential fluid. Change your brake fluid. Drain and fill radiator fluid. I use castrol import multi vehicle trans fluid with no problems and have 152k on my car. when you use fuel system cleaner it should be right before your pop change.

Redline Si-1 shock dose can be used without an oil change, but just use it the tank before the oil change. And as I said in another thread. 6oz a tank is better for cleaning everything than just shock dose

You know if you ask the dealer they might bring up the maintenance of the car. I did that to my last car.

I would ask the dealer but I bought it from a Chevrolet store, previous owner bought a new Cruze. And they said the previous owner didn't service it there. Closest Infiniti/Nissan store is over 150 miles away so I doubt they brought the vehicle there.

Anyways I went out and picked up 2 quarts of Mobil 1 Syn Gear Oil and 4 Quarts of Castrol Import Multi Vehicle. (Thanks for the tip 5150DS!) Will be changing the fluid on my rear diff and AT tonight.

What fluid should I be looking for to service the transfer case? Ive read that Nissan calls for Matic D but what do you guys reccommend?

Big thanks to everyone on G35Driver! With all the helpful comments from users and the great documentation and DIY videos I was able to complete a lot of maintenance items that I previously thought I never could.

Over the past couple I was able to successfully complete the following services to my vehicle:

-Flushed power steering fluid
-Bleed and Replace Brake Fluid (Valv Syn Dot 3/4)
-Replace Front and Rear Differential Fluids (Mobil 1 Syn Gear 75w-90)
-Replaced Transfer Case Fluid (Mobil 1 Syn ATF)
-Replaced Radiator Coolant Fluid
-(2X) Drain and Fill Transmission (Castrol Import Multi Vehicle ATF)

I will be doing my third drain and fill of the transmission during my next oil change as well as switching out the spark plugs. I have also started using 6oz of Redline SI-1 when I head to the pump for a full fill up.

Is there anything that I have missed?

Thanks!!

As for spark plugs, be careful not to mix the coil pack up. It would be good to label them or change one plug at a time. You can go to infinitihelp.com to view the spark plug replacement video. That forum has a wealth of information on DIY and get pro answers for your questions.

Check your belts. I bought my 2005 G35X at 52K miles - one of the belts (probably original) let go shortly after I took ownership. The belt remnants damaged a pipe below the AC compressor and I lost my AC charge. $50 or so for the belt replacement and almost $600 for the AC repair.

What did you do to fix your rear axle clicking? Take it to a dealer or DIY?

I did it my myself. I was able to find M77 at the local honda dealer. Ordered the bolts, washers, and nuts from the internet.(Didnt really need to get these but the TSB states to use new parts) Only took a couple hours to do both wheels, and with the DIY guides on here it was pretty easy.
