G35 Overheating issues

Hi,

Not sure if there is a thread already floating around for this issue I'm having, if it does can someone point me to it. This is what I have, I saw a thread for the exact same problem I have but didn't find a solution.

I got a 2003 G35 with 115K miles. Engine overheating issues, replaced a cracked radiator, thermostat. The temperature cold/hot indication was normal (in middle) when idle however when I drive it around the needle goes to hot quickly. Not sure if there is a problem with water pump, hoses, gasket, belts. I'm seeing too many advises but just wondering if anyone ran into the same problem I have and was able to fix it without too much trial and error.

Please HELP!!!!

Most likely air in you cooling system. You need to burp the system to get the air out. Did you also replace the radiator cap? If not, I would.

I had the same problem...one, are you losing coolant, or do you see any coolant leaking anywhere? (leaking coolant would be an indication of bad waterpump) but our cars don't really have bad water pumps.

When your car is idle at normal temp check the top radiator hose, then check the bottom radiator hose...they should
Be the same temperature. If bottom hose is not as hot thermostat is no good

I had that problem, I changed the thermostat and car was still running hot...got another thermo and then it was fine. Make sure you get the oem t-stat from the dealer.

And then when pouring coolant make sure you use the bleeder screw which is located close to the battery.

Did a temporary fix. Apparently the water pump is weak and hence the overheating issues even with new radiator and thermostat. So took out the thermostat and the overheating issue went away. At some point in the next few days, plan to replace the water pump and hope this is the final fix. Thank you everybody for your help.

i have a 2003 g coupe. im having close to the same issue. radiator cracked and got tranny fluid all in it. replaced radiator but not the thermostat. been flushing the system out but the car is over heating now. heat comes and goes and the car doesnt overheat when it is idleing. I thought that there could be a air bubble in it but it hasnt fixed itself yet. the top hose gets hot but the bottom hose is cooler. I havent seen anything in the oil yet. if the thermostat was bad, wouldnt it not have heat at all? im pulling my hair out with this issue. Also i didnt replace the cap and it goes on hard.

there is still tranny fluid in it but not to the level it was when it first happened. now its like a pimkish/whiteish jelly. small particles and everytime i flush it, it gets better. is there a solution i should be using as well and another thing is i was told about it possibly having a air bubble. how does that blow itself out? im new to this so the help would be greatly appreciated

Coupe 6MT Premium RAS
Pressure test the coolant system, if it isn't holding pressure it's not working.
