Exclamation Just thinking out loud...

I just can't decide between the coupe or sedan...I mean it just makes more sense to buy the sedan, it's cheaper (about $2k) and more functional. You can actually fit more than a golf bag in the trunk. I mean if the engine was still 260hp, i would say, yes there is a performance advantage in the coupe, but now the engines are exactly the same.

I'm sure you've all discussed this to death..but does anyone here regret not getting the coupe? Sorry if this is a re-post...

For what its worth my last new car was a 2 door S-10 Blazer. I soon realized that the 4 door would have been a smarter move.

So I went for the G35X sedan, didn't want to make the same mistake twice plus I wanted AWD.

I also only own one car. If I was looking for a second car it would be a convertible. Perhaps I will rethink things when Infiniti goes top less with the G.

If I could only buy one car it would definatly be the Sedan. Coupes get old real fast if you take people with you on a regular basis... Now if you fly solo 95% of the time then I would probably buy the coupe since its sporty looking... but if you have friends riding with you all the time or you plan on having kids soon, then definantly the sedan. Otherwise your friends will scuff up the car getting in and out of the back seats all the time...

coupe vs sedan

For what it is worth, I purchased the Sedan 04 A.T. Premium package.I loved the lines of the coupe but did not find the seats as comfortable or the ride as nice as the sedan. I did not purchase the sports suspension. The ride with the regular suspension is firm enough for my taste. The interior gives you the feeling of being in sports car, just forget there is a backseat, not hard to do when cruising with the tunes up! For looks, the coupe, for comfort and functionality, the sedan. And although mine is ONLY 260 HP, it is plenty fast...0 - 60 in 6.2 is what I have read. I mean, how fast is fast and where are you going to use it? A tap of the gas has you passing people like they are standing still. The VQ engine rocks.

Oh by the way, for those of you looking at 04 vs 05, the 04 sedan with 260 hp can run on regular unleaded although mid grade gives better performance. I find no measureable difference between high test and mid grade so if you do lots of driving, gas will be somewhat cheaper with the 04 260 HP vs the 05 289hp.

Having owned both the Sedan (first) and now the Coupe, I find myself in the non-enviable position of needing to go back to a Sedan.
Actually for me, It didn't mean much since I trade often anyway (up to now), but I may not have chosen to trade my Sedan for an M45 had I kept my G-Sedan.

After 2 years with the Coupe, I find myself, more often than not, wanting for a bigger trunk and 2 more doors.

The Coupe is great, but so is the Sedan and the Sedan-X.

I suggest you know your needs b4 choosing. It'll be cheaper in the long run.

Good luck.
C.

Having had two door cars all my life I wanted the practicality of a four door so I bought the sedan. I'll probably never look back, until my mid-life crisis and I buy a Corvette or something. Plus the sedan is lighter then the coupe, believe it or not.

I was looking at 04s, but what I found was that the 'real life' spread between the coupe and the sedan was closer to 6k.

You can get the 04 sedan well under invoice with excellent financing.

Coupes still go for just a little under MSRP with no special financing.

However, the coupes have incredible resale value (sedan is good, but coupe is better).

Um, those numbers don't make sense. Is this a lease? You would have had to finance $29,300. At 320 a month, that is something like 91 months (not including interest) - did you finance it for 8 years? Or did you put down $14,700, instead of $4,700 (even this would require a finance period of 6 years)? Not trying to be an a**, I'm must curious.

The sedan rocks, especially if you have the 6MT. It drives like a mother, plus it looks gorgeous and sophisticated - more like a European sport sedan. I still stand and stare at it all the time. The coupe is great if you have no kids, animals, etc. But I love my sedan and wouldn't trade for even money.

I think the coupe looks amazing and if I was single and didn't have a baby I may have possibly went for the coupe. However, I'm a die hard performance sedan guy. I don't know what it is about performance sedans, but they really have stolen my heart. My first car was an 86 Accord hatchback, then a 90 CRX Si, then a 94 Z28, and then I got a 96 Maxima. After having that 4-door for 6 years I came to enjoy the room, the big trunk, and the executive cruiser image. There's just something about having a decently quick 4-door that gets my heart racing. I don't know why Infiniti dumb-downed the 03-04 G35 looks with the unpainted lower sills and less sporty front bumper. They wised up in 05 and realized that the sedan looks damn fine with the painted sills and coupe style bumper. I couldn't afford the 05 sedan so my color of choice was black because it seems to offset the parts of the exterior I really don't like. I will either do a front lip or the Aero bumper.

I have an 04 with the as you so ineloquently put it"dumb-downed " lower sills as they are unpainted. In my opinion, they will also show no chipping.

Happy re-painting--ur...motoring.
