I just had the 225/50/17's installed today. Driving to get them was rough with those crappy GSD's. But driving home on the Pilots was a dream. They got me through all kinds of snow on the way home and were felt extremely solid on wet pavement and slush. I can't wait to try these babies out on dry pavement. They're worth the money.

What other tires did you consider? Are those tires loud?

I was thinking about the Avon Techs. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but those tires are still too new without enough reviews of them. I had Bridgestone Turanzas on my last G and didn't like them too much, they felt really weak in the sidewalls.

The new tires seem pretty quiet and have a nice ride to them. They feel great to drive on.

You mean 235/50/17 right?

Yep, I just got Pilot Sport A/S' and installed them last week. They make the world of a difference in wet/snow/dry handling than the stock tires. They are a slight bit noisier than the factory tires, but that can only be heard when the radio is off...They are great! I got 235/50/17's btw..

Nope. I got the 225's. I've read posts from people who bought the 235's and they hung over the wheel so much that they lost a lot of cornering stability and bounced all over highway seams. I had enough of that with the Turanzas. Plus, I don't like the bulge you see - reminds me of my friend's TL.

I liked mine for about 5k and then started hating them. They are too loud and the ride is nothing compared to my Toyos. Toyos Proxes 4 quite, great ride better grip wet or dry and I put the extra $90 per tire in my pocket. Hope you have better luck but if not switch to the Toyos you won't look back.

The difference between the Michelin Pilot A/S and the factory GY GSD's are night and day!!! My dealer did 2 alignments and installed a new control arm (as per the pulling-to-the-right TSB) because my car always pulled to the right. After nothing worked, they finally figured out I had at least 2 radial pulls from my GY GSD's, so they ordered me a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S under warranty (in the Plus 0 size of 235/50/ZR17 W rated).

WOW!!! What a difference. No pull to the right, and my car feels much more connected to the road; much better handling. Yes, they are a bit louder, but who cares when it drives so much better. The car should have come std. with these tires in this size, imo.

Does anyone run Toyo TPTs in 235/50-17 on stock wheels? I'd be getting new shoes pretty soon, and those Toyos look very promising as far as wear ratings, reviews and pricing.
