I think what you are saying is that your gf's car will upshift automatically if you shift into manual mode and hit the redline. Your car will just bounce off the rev-limiter.
The kind of cars that will upshift if they hit the redline automatically are high performance cars (Ferrari, Lambo, etc.)
Is this your issue?

my car. the MM mode only lets you decide the highest gear you want to be in.So if i put it 3,it will up shift and down shift but wont go past 3.
gf car MM mode you can actual choose the gear you want to be in.so if you come to a complete stop you have to up shift gears.
its a video of a different thing but after 1 min...you can see that it says 3 but i am coming to a complete stop,so again,in my car i can only choose the highest get or the final gear.

its like a old school automatic you have your (D 3 2 1) so if its in 3 the highest gear is 3
P,S Guys sorry,i just dont know how to explain any other way
I believe what he's saying is
His car: He can select gears using the manual shifting option (i.e. 3). But that doesn't mean the car is in 3rd gear. It means it will up shift and downshift automatically from gears 1, 2, and 3. But on his car, let's say you were in 3rd gear on the manual mode. If you come to a complete stop, the gear indicator would still indicate 3rd gear. His manual mode doesn't act as a gear selector but rather as a "gear limiter". So from a complete stop in manual mode, he wouldn't upshift on the manual mode because the car automatically upshifts for him. Upshifting on his car would only allow his car to automatically shift between 1, 2, 3, and 4, instead of the previous 1, 2, 3. It doesn't act like a clutchless manual because it doesn't allow you to specifically select a gear.
Girlfriends car: Her car acts more like a clutchless manual. If the gear indicator on the dash on her car says 3, it's actually in third gear. On her car you can also upshift on the manual mode, which would then shift you up a gear. When coming to a stop, it will downshift back down to 1, and once you start to accelerate again, you need to bump the shifter up in order to shift gears. On her car you have complete control (besides ECU limiting how high/low of a gear you can go at certain speeds) of which gear your car is in.
Let me know if I understand your situation right

I wouldnt say its a ton of money but yes in a way its pointless but i ocasionally do auto x which would be great in my case since atm i cannot control the gear i am in,second of all to have some sideways fun is a little hard in my position.my gf has a identical car to me exept its red and driving her car is night and day compared to mine.its just something that would put me between owning a mt and having my at,i am positive it has to so with a AT ECU but i need aome input on where to start.thank you
I'm pretty sure the ecu's are different since wideband is also added at 2004.5. Have you checked with Uprev to see if tuning software can make this less of an issue? Mine's an early 04 and I don't really notice it down shifting in manual mode.
actually no i haven't,haven't really plan to tune it yet till summer, still have more mods to order and install.
but i will give them a call to ask.
Didnt really think that the actual ecu had to do anything with the transmission i though out cars have their own ecu for the tranny.
