Another thing I noticed today. My 05 loaner without sport suspension corners flatter than my 04 sedan with sport suspension. Also there's less understeer. My guess it is the updated rear sway bar.

Get the rear swaybar upgrade. You won't be sorry! Makes a huge improvement.

What you gain in buying a new '04 w/ deals in 2005 you will lose in selling an '04 instead of an '05 3-5 years from now. IMO

Funny you would mention this. My 350evo rear bar just came in

Now I need service department to return my call and explain to me why it takes 3 days to replace a fricking heater switch.

If you sell in 3 years, what's the point of buying?

If you sell in 5 years, not such a big deal because heaviest depreciation is in the first 3 years.

I think the greater issue is the depreciation of the 04 model. You are taking a big hit if you buy the 04. $750 under invoice for the 04 is nothing compared to the 3-4K of depreciation when you drive out of the dealer's lot. Get the 05 with a good deal. Heck, this is slow time for all the dealers. Be patient and you will get a good deal for the 05

That may be true initially, but in a few years the value of an 05 compared to an 04 will be minimal. For example, in 2007 an 05 may fetch an additional 1K if the cars have the same options/mileage.

$3500 Rebates (first ever on the G35) on 04s with killer factory financing.

Buy a brand new one for just about the same value of the Blue Book for a used one with low miles...but with low new car financing vs ok used car financing.

This is definitely a car I plan to keep for at least 5-7 years, so the decision was easy for me.

Nonetheless, I think the upgrades on the 05 are well worth the price you'll pay for them as well.

Both are great cars, you just pay about a 2700 dollar premium (with the rebate/financing cost taken into account) for the newer one.

If I bought an 04 and sat in an 05, I'd probably say nice changes, get back in my 04 and still know I am driving a bad *** car, and its not like every time you look at your interior you think oh man the 05 was improved, so if it comes down to saving some cash right now, the 04 would be the way to go.

No doubt the 05 has some advantages over the 04.5

However, you have to ask yourself if your willing to pay a little extra for those advantages.

From the look of things here, it appears some have chosen to do so while others have not.

If one if looking for adefinitive answer to the 05 vs. 04 question, I really don't think there is one.

Like someone said before, either way you end up with a niceaXX car.
