Getting new Struts/springs. does it matter if AWD or not?

i was looking into buying some new struts and springs or maybe coilovers and was just wondering if it made any difference between the sedan and the AWD sedan when buying suspension.

Yes, the AWD G has a bracket that bolts to the strut, which then goes around the axle shaft. So, you cannot use RWD struts on the front of an AWD G. But, the springs are the same for RWD and AWD. Check out my pic of the strut bracket here -

As far as aftermarket struts, there are only KYB Excel G's available for the front of an AWD G. That's what I just put on my '06x.

Rear suspension is exactly the same as a RWD G35 or 350z.

It's KYB or OEM if you want to keep a stock-type strut assembly up front. There are aftermarket coil-overs available as well, but I have done no research on them since I wasn't planning to lower my car much at all. I only swapped in coupe front springs to even out the fender gap with the rears. I have no plans to go lower - need ground clearance for snow and bad weather.

Smile AWD Front struts

Monroe makes a similar design twin tube gas filled shock.
The are a old time mfg. Not sure of their present day quality.

So far, no complaints at all. I only have a few hundred miles on them since install, but they feel great. I ordered mine through RockAuto.com - quick shipping and fair price.

They are about the same as stock - maybe a tad stiffer. They're definitely not mushy, so don't worry about that.

Is it possible to modify a pair of RWD tokico blues to fit the AWD bottom mounting bracket? Seems pretty simple but ****, I already bought some tokicos, man I messed up.

The rear shocks are not a problem. look at the picture above and look at bottom of your front tokicos... there is your problem. You would have to weld on a collar without ruining the internal gas/hydraulic system.
