A few nit questions...
A few nit questions...
my inside rear-view mirror vibrates (no comedians, pls
) when I am driving. It happens continuously, not just over bumps. After I adjust/move it a little bit then it is good for a while. Anyone else noticed this? Any suggestions?
It takes a long time (up to 10-15 minutes) for the outside temp reading to drop 10 - 20 degree to the actual. Is yours the same? The temp reading on my ML320 stablizes almost instantly.
I hear a noise (sounds like slamming a small metal gate closed) everytime when the car is first driven. It happens at a speed of around 10mph. Is this the famous 'grinding' noise relating to the VDC and/or AWD mechanism?
Thanks a bunch!

No problems with my mirror.

My temp is not instantaneous, it seems like after I have driven it and then shut it down for an hour or so, it reads warmer for the first few minutes after start-up, as if it had picked up heat from the engine compartment. It then settles down to the proper temp. I have just learned to not believe the temp until I have driven it for a few minutes, then it is ok.

I do not have that noise at all, never have .
When your slip light comes on you will usually notice a soft whirring or whining sound coming from the front left. This is normal and it is the traction control (AWD) and VDC kicking in when you lose traction.
Hope that helped, Wayne

I would bring the car back to the dealer for the mirror. I have no problem with mine.
For the temp sensor also have the dealer reposition it. From what I recall it's fairly close to the engine. Someone else on the forum had the same issue.

Hello fullofivy
Isolating a rattle or vibration can be a tricky trouble to fix. There are 2 Infiniti Service Bulletins that I'm aware of that may help.
#02028 issued on 9-18-2002
This involves a vibration caused by a loose fitting cowl assembly on the driver and passenger sides. It requires the installation of urethane pads on the cowl attachment points and the application of a thread lock liquid on the screws to correct this vibration.
#04046 issued on 9-17-2004
This may be the actual trouble you are encountering. The rear view mirror assembly from the headliner to the mirror attachment is known to vibrate/rattle. This service involves removal of the plastic assembly and the installation of felt pads on the inner sides of the unit. This will provide a tighter fit upon re-assembly and eliminate the rattle.
It is possible for you to do this fix yourself, however, both are known issues on the G35 and are covered under the Infiniti Vehicle Warranty.
Hope this helps you.
