Two questions...
What tire comes on the 05 6MT (comes with Sport Suspension).
Will 16" wheels fit over the calipers (for snow tires)?

I searched for both, couldn't come up with anything, although I know I have read some thing about both questions...

On the 05 G35 you can only put the 16" on the G35X because it has smaller brakes(11.7" front discs) but the coupe and rwd sedan have larger brakes (12.6" front discs).
I assume you are talking sedan since it is in this section .
The stock wheel and tire sizes are 7" x17 wheels with 215/55R17 tires.
The sedan aero package sizes are 7.5" x 18 wheels with 235/45R18 tires.

Also tirerack.com says that the car (05 6MT) can take 16"s... That is just incorrect?

 

Someone else will have to answer that Shook, All I know is in 05 the 18's come with a W rated summer performance tire.

I believe for 05 Infiniti put larger brakes on all but the G35X, whereas previous years if you did not have the big Brembos you could run 16"winter rims.

I'm looking into getting a G35 6MT Sedan, and would likely swap out the tires for some all season performance tires. I really like the Pirelli P-Zero Neros but they don't seem to have the 235/45-18 size of the standard tire. They have 245/40-18. Would this fit? Would I need to recalibrate the speedometer/odometer??

 

No worries on the 40 will make an absolute minor difference and you get a lot more tire options.

 

Do you know what speed difference there would be on the speedo by using 245/40-18, they are also over $100 less per tire in many cases :-)

 

Very minor but there are caluclators out there that will tell you. Might be 1-3mph off on the speedo. However 245 might be a wide tire for a 7.5" rim. You better check over in the Wheels forum.

 

So what are the tires on the 18 sport sedan?

 

they are Good Year Eagle NST 5. They are good tires, I've been happy with their traction. Next time around though I will go 245/40/18 as it is a much better looking tire.

 

All the searching I've done says that a difference (error) up +/- 3% is acceptable to the ECU.

 

btw... the 235/45-18's have a circumference of 82.71" and the 245/40-18's are 80.79" -- the 245's are actually a smaller tire. So your error will be about -2.3%.

The 7.5" rims may be a problem though since 8-9" rims are preferrred for the 245's

 

Thats a bummer, these are 7.5 inches wide? Thats stupid considering this is a sports sedan and they put a dumb size tire/wheel combo like that.

 

Yup.... Nissan did same thing on 2000 Maxima -- only 2 tires available in North America that fit the existing rims and kept them close to OEM. Only option was to go with new rims if i wanted different tires.
