04 sedan 5at no low end power

I have a 04 sedan automatic and it seems to have no power till after 3500rpms. I know that it won't have a ton of power till after then but it seems to have way lower than what it should be. If I floor it from a start it stalls for a sec then slowly speeds up to 3500rpms then it kicks you back in you're seat. Is this normal or is something wrong? I keep reading about how people are doing burnouts in their 5ats and mine would never be able to do that. I only have like 120,000 miles on it. Well maintained. Any thoughts? Thanks

Does it seem to run smoothly at least? Did this just start or has it been going on the whole time you've had your car? How long have you owned it?

Are you sure the car is shifting into low gear, put it in first using manual mode and see if it's the same.

If you are really stepping on it the VDC might be kicking in and retarding the acceleration. Try turning it off and see if it helps.

Agreed, sounds like vdc. Button is on the lower part of dash on left side of steering wheel.

I'd think he'd be seeing the VDC light blinking in his face though...no?

Judging by his screen name he's probably too high to know what is happening.
