Muffler and exhaust shop confirm passenger side cat reads 9 psi. Driver side reads slightly above 4 psi. Acceptable range is 1-4 psi. Cat on passenger side needs replacement. Estimate is 968 dollars

No no no my bro my bro! You need to buy a HFC from one of the vendors on here. Probably will cost $600 shipped for BOTH of them.

DO NOT replace just one cat, just do them both.

Make sure you get a 300 cell or higher HFC to keep emissions and raspyness down.

You could even coin up and buy resonated HFC's to eliminate most/all rasp completely and still cost less than that.

Went on a test drive and the car still continued with the issue. I can describe it as when you get to WOT as a sputter and struggles to get up and go. Normal driving does not replicate the symptom. I am going to try fuel injector cleaner. I am thinking fuel delivery is a problem.
Was the oil residue around the spark plugs like this guys:

if so, you might need new valve cover o rings.

Well Tunermax, you havent steered me wrong yet and its absurd to have to pay near a grand for 1 cat. Its been almost 8 years since I've been in the import scene and I was quite the avid import racer back in the day with my 95 all motor GSR.

Give me a few suggestions on what to get. Im not looking to get a huge increase in performance I am just trying to get this car back up and running and enjoy the car with the family. I see that one of these vendors is local to me and is within 5 to 10 minutes of me.

Heres their website http://www.importpartspro.com/

Keep in mind, this car needs to pass inspection in texas through sniffer and OBD test.

Thanks man. I almost dropped the grand on the cat.

No brother. It was around the actual threads. No where on the electrode or the back portion on the porcelain. Just the threads. They werent very tight when I pulled them out. I think I could have actually taken them off if I applied enough force by hand.

They seem to carry the bulk of what's available. I would find out what the cell counts are and just go with the highest one. Stock is probably 800 cell and there are 2 of them in line lol. So the higher you can get the better. Resonated is preferred only for sound.

Glad you got it tested before firing up the parts cannon buying sensors, etc or hurting the engine

I don't have first hand experience but have heard that they pass.
Id stay with 300 or more cell though. I think Berk is 200, but find one that is high and grab a pair.
I would not get Megan but the rest of what they carry looks decent quality.
If I was buying resonated hfcs id buy fast intentions.

Thats not a bad price at all.

Update for you folks. I got the kinetix cats today and removed the old cats. It's 100% confirmed passenger side cat was busted and I was able to turn it upside down and shake some of the element out. The driver side was completely loose and sliding as an entire piece inside the cat housing.

Installed both kinetix and did an ecu reset. Took it for a test drive and I kid you not, at WOT it almost snapped my neck. Got a slight rattle somewhere. Probably a loose heat shield somewhere.

It appears I didn't need to reinstall the support bracket on the new cats since there's not brackets to support it. Am I right?

Ill post pics tomorrow of the cats to show the damage.

I just replaced OEM with Kinetix HFC. Big difference in note from the exhaust around 3k, little lighter it seems. I also got a post-installation rattle. It's only on movement as opposed to neutral rev.
