Mouse in Car

Ya, as the title says. We have a mouse in our sedan, again. This is probably the third one. After the first two I started searching to try and find where they are coming in at. Read on here about the opening for the cabin filter. Sure enough, that was it. So I took some steel mesh and placed it over the opening. The holes in it are really small, no way a mouse could get through. At this same time I also replaced the cabin filter and detailed the interior. That was about 5 months ago. This whole time there hasn't been any sign of them at all. Until yesterday. Now Im stumped. I have absolutely no clue as to where those little bastards are coming in at. The only place i know is already blocked off. This has me so frustrated that Im ready to set the car on fire. Is there any other place on the cabin that has an opening where they could be coming in at? I have looked and couldnt find a thing but I could be overlooking something.

FYI, mouse can get in the tinest of cracks, they can manipulate thier bodies to get in an area you would think otherwise would be impenentrible. you should check out Home Depot/Lowes ask them about the chemical/powder you can sprinkle in your engine compartment to keep them out, they can reak absolute horror on your wires and hoses..... and it needs to be dealt with quickly

found this on ask an exterminator site

"I had an exterminator tell me that your average mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime. be it in the wall, in the basement, in the foundation, under the stairs, they arent picky so long as a food source is available and its relatively dry and warm. they arent even particular about the dry part so long as its warm."

sorry about so many posts, my friend says, to put the car on a lift if possible.... and purchase Rataway from Home Depot/Lowes, if coated correctly, they should avoid that area, so coat the car from back to front

maybe its been there the whole time after your mesh cover and you just recently seen it now. just a thought. the common place would be the in-cabin filter, they tend to make nests there as well.

mothballs. seriously.

They have stuff that is like mothballs but not as stinky you can get also. Keeps animals the ef out.

If you have mice going inside the car repeatedly, it's because there is food in there. Get rid of crumbs, pull back seat completely out and vacuum it, under seats, in between, go on a effing hunt, there are crumbs, etc in there somewhere, or an old cracker box, or something.

Either way mothballs will keep them out.

Yes, both times I caught them with a mouse trap in the passenger floorboard.

That makes a lot of sense now because my wife said that she had left some bags in the trunk and found a mouse turd in one of the bags. Nowhere else in the car though except the trunk. I will check that out when I get home.

I dont think I could ever bring myself to putting mothballs in the car. Those things are rough lol.

Thanks to all for the good advice. I will definitely do some digging today and see what I cant come up with.

If they're already in the car, why not bait them with good old fashion mousetraps and cheese?

speaking of finding things in your vehicle, when I was in the service, stationed in Wichita Kansas (McConnell AFB) we had a "Bone Yard" where we take parts from broken other vehicles and make repairs to a current on the road vehicle.... so me and another Airman had to go get a part from under the hood of a K Car... most know what that is... anyway, this 6'5 225lb airman was going to hold the hood for me, and I would retireve the part.... so we get there, he opens the hood I start to go pick the part, and a RABBIT jumps over me and him, well, big strong guy, DROPS the hood on top of me.... bam.... 6'5" and he's scared of bunny LMAO it hurt then, but it's pretty funny story now

Mothballs tend to stink up a car pretty good.

I've found dryer sheets are a bit better to use. used to stuff drer sheets up the tailpipes of my Mustang when stored long term to keep mice out. Worked nicely.
