Final breathing mods to my NA X... HFCs are on the way, wondering about the MREV2.
Final breathing mods to my NA X... HFCs are on the way, wondering about the MREV2.
Hey guys, was doing a bit of research on the MREV2 and it seems most of you see little to no benefit in throwing it on an automatic powerplant. $500 isn't really on the cheap side, and I was wondering if the $450 I paid for HFC would really out-do an MREV2 in terms of bang for the buck in the long run.
Current mods:
-5/16" plenum spacer
-DC headers
-Stillen Gen 2 catback
-Stillen intake / Z-tube
-Osiris tuned
The Berk HFCs will go on the car next month, same time as I will have the Hotchkis sway bars installed. Planning a final tune near mid summer timeframe.
WIth an MREV2 installed afterwards, would the small hike in mid range TQ even be noticeable @ WOT?
Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Installing a Motordyne MREV2 on an AT isn't worth the cost, you might get max 2 whp. Once you've installed your HFCs with all your other breather mods you're going to need a retune. There's a big difference between OE cats and HFCs which should net you more whp.

Unless somebody has a case to make on the MREV2 being a + for 5AT cars, that nails it.
On to my evaluation of everything involved with a potential drop, should I eventually change my mind.
Since the MREV2 is basically an AT lower plenium it's a total waste of money. Find another plenium and lower intake and port them, there is some power to be found down there. Look at this thread. and search the Intake/Exhaust forum
