Brake squeak new oem pads

I just had new oem pads and hub bearing installed. Also aftermarket rotors put on. After 30 mi my brakes squeak pretty loud about 50% of the time. The installer never applied any brake grease. Could this be a issue?

It could be. Definitely my first move would be to remove the pads and apply the break grease to the backside of the pads on the contact surfaces.

It could also be the rotors as aftermarket parts can sometimes be noisy, but try the grease first

Well, they should have never touched that, but it's possible it's bent and scraping the rotor. But you'd hear that all the time and it would get faster and slower as you speed up and slow down.

Did you bed in the pads properly? That will cause noise as well but you definitely need to add the grease like Mustang said.

Well when he replaced the hub bearing the dust shield just fell off since its connected to it. I was there the whole time.

I really can't say yes. I hear it the most when I brake at low speeds and turn the wheel. Its like 50% hit in miss when I brake straight on.

Grease them first and go from there. The dust shields are easy to check.

Wow

I've done tons of brake jobs on my cars over the years. Only times i get squeaks are when i forget to buy grease and get lazy, or buy cheap *** autoparts store parts.

OEM pads should be silent...kinda why i've put 3 sets on my G35 so far.

If you dont add the grease, what parts make the noise the grease helps prevent?

The noise is caused by vibration due to contact between the pad's backing plate and the caliper itseld.

The grease is applied between the contact points to provide lubrication between those points. The squeak is actually high frequency vibration.

I've been having a similar issue for about a year, since I last had my pads replaced. squeaking when I lightly press on the brake pedal, as I depress the pedal more, the squeak stops, I've took it back, and the pads were replaced again, though I was told that it was the brake pads themselves. anyhoo, squeak came back a few weeks later. more annoying than anything.
