Window motor reset

So I'm fixing a few minor issues with my car to either sell it, or maybe keep it a bit longer.

Passenger front door window rolls down 4" when I use the auto UP feature.

So I pull the panel and locate the reset switch. Except it does nothing. It looks like a little rubber plunger but I don't feel anything depress when I push it in.

Has anyone done this lately? Is there an actual click? This just feels like I'm pushing on a rubber plug.

This is pretty much my last thing to fix and it's been driving me nuts.

Anyone? This reset "button" feels like a stiff plunger and doesn't really do much of anything? Can anyone recall if they can feel it move or "click"

And yes, i am pressing the right button. Here's a pic

I've done this on my coupe, it's just a soft button. Doesn't click or anything. Just make sure you're following the window reset procedure and not just pushing a button hoping for miracles.

I'm following this procedure on page 79 of the '06 sedan FSM

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/G35/Seda...5_Sedan/gw.pdf

Unfortunately, it's slightly different from the other procedures i've read in my searching. I figure this would be the correct way...but so far no results. Off to try it right now again

Well I'll be damned. It worked.

Not sure if i wasn't doing something right, but i used the coupe FSM which had other steps involving opening and closing the door. It worked the first time like a charm.

1 more thing crossed off the list. Now all that's left to do is fix my leaking muffler flange and it's as good as new.

Was the reset switch in a different position when you reset it successfully or is it hard to tell something is wrong with the motor.

I guess im asking if it works the same way as a circuit breaker for example.

The reset switch just doesn't feel like w switch. It's a soft rubber cover that you don't feel an active click when you press in. So you don't really know what you are doing when you push it in.

Plus, the procedure between sedan and coupe is different. I tried the sedan method a few times with no sucess. The first time i tried the coupe method...it worked perfectly

Sedan
Raise the glass to the top position.
2. While pressing and holding the reset switch, lower the glass to
the bottom position.
3. Release the reset switch, and check the reset switch returns to
the original position, and then raise the glass to the top position.

Coupe
With the door open, lift up and hold the power window switch until the door glass is fully closed.
2. Get inside the vehicle and close the door.
You need to close the door so the door switch is fully depressed.
3. Press and hold the reset switch. While holding the reset switch, press down and hold the power window
switch until the door glass is fully opened.
4. Release the reset switch. Then, lift up and hold the power window
switch until the door glass is fully closed.
5. Open the door to release the door switch. The door glass should
partially move down.

that rubber "switch" is not really a switch. its more like a gromment u can pull off and push back in if u like. behind it is a white disc that spins. wat the switch does is stops the disc from spinning when pressed down against it. details on exactly how the disc works and how it resets idk

G35 Coupe
Another free tip. Just installed 3rd motor on my 2004. I followed Infiniti's instructions as noted above by Mustang5L5, but the window insisted on resting 1/2 way up when I least expected it. I pulled the door panel, unplugged the motor, plugged it back in, and was able to reset properly.. Is everyone here buying Cardone motors, or has someone found a motor that lasts more than 3-4 years ?

Thanks..
