Just bought g35 2003, Quick Questions

Hello, I am new here and I am now a proud owner of g35 sedan. It has 160,000 miles. Runs great so far...hopefully that last.

I test drove the car on and off the freeway for about 45 minutes maxing out the RPM etc. No problems that I can tell. Only issue I have notice so far is the drive side window motor seems to be malfunctioning. When I push the button to bring window up it is very slow and erratic.

So my question is what should the first thing I should get done on the car? Oil change? Take to mechanic to get it checked out?

Thanks!

You bought a car with 160k miles
And just now you're considering taking it to a mechanic to get it checked out?

Solid choice.

A car that old with that many miles needs some work.

First check your oil EVERY DAY for the first couple of weeks until you can establish a pattern. NEVER let it drop below the low mark on the dip stick.

Maintenance:

Coolant flush
Brake flush, pads and rotors checked
Transmission flush (ONLY LET THE DEALER DO IT, unless it's a six speed)
Differential fluid
power steering fluid change
Clutch master cyl and Slave fluid flush if manual
Spark plugs changed (supposed to do this at 105,000 I think)
Complete bushing job
Check all control arms
four wheel alignment
Wheel bearings checked.
Belts, hoses, anything rubber

The car is already bought if you have nothing productive to input in the thread keep your comments to yourself.

There's some controversy over flushing a transexual..I mean Transmission with that many miles. I would just drain n fill.

I agree. First thing to do is pull the stick and see what condition the fluid is in. Hopefully it's been done b4 and it's a nice reddish pink with no nasty burnt odour.

Pretty clean for 160K miles.

I would def second constantly checking the oil level. manual or not, the 3.5L tends to be an oil burner when the miles start piling up. Stay on top of the level and carry a quart with you if you need to add it.

Other than that, I'd slowly go through the car assuming ZERO maintainance had been done and start addressing things like differential fluids, power steering fluids, brake fluid, belts, etc etc.

I have 118K on my Nissan Frontier and I'm getting the dealer to do it so that if it does crap out, I'm covered.
