I am thinking of buying a G35, any advice?

We currently drive an Acura CL but need more space for a new baby. Have driven all the usual suspects including the Acura TL but was not impressed with any of them (hated the Lexus IS). Test drove the G35 and really liked it. I know asking ya’ll is like asking Bill Gates if Windows XP is any good but, give me your thoughts on buying the G35 Sedan. Anything you would have done differently? Any advice for a possible new member of the G35 fan club? Your responses are most appreciated.

I have a 4yr old and 5 wk old, and both their seats fit in the back just fine (fits even better in the SUV though .

The only thing I would have done differently is buy at the end of the month, (bought on the 6th of the month). I got it for $500 over invoice which was an excellent price, but I had to put my *** in a sling to get that price, (4 hours of negotiation). Dealers tend to sacrifice closer to the end of the month, to make their quotas and commissions.

I have 3 sons (7 years, 4 years, and 11 month old). The G is the third auto and we all squeeze in the G every once in a while. I have the Willow interior and it is still clean. Keep in mind I drive the Truck or the Expy to the Baseball and Soccer fields ... I just cannot bring myself to mess up the interior of the G.

My only advice is to enjoy the G ... you cannot go wrong.

What drew me to the Infiniti G line was the complete safety package. For me, the curtain air bags was a requirement and put the CL/TL out of the race. So, with the safety features, styling and power, the G was the choice. The sedan seats are really comfortable and would be great for long drives or hanging in the car watching the kids play soccer in the rain !! ...dean

I test drove the G35 last year- long W/E in May. Wasn't even looking to buy a new car. Signed the papers that day!
Realizing that I hadn't even driven the competition, I went the entire next week driving virtually ALL the competition prior to picking up the G. The only other choice for me would have been the 330i, but it was too small (I have a 7 and 12 y.o.) and about $10K CDN more.
Some little issues and rattles, most resolved. No regrets re the choice of car. I still LOVE driving it almost 1 year later!

Re: I am thinking of buying a G35, any advice?

Overall I am quite happy with my 2003 Sedan.

Some people including myself have an issue with the power seat controls causing pain in the right hip and thigh area. This does NOT affect a majority of drivers but is a real problem for those who are affected.

I would suggest you spend a minimum of one hour in the driver's seat for all who will be driving the car. This issue is independent of weight or height so please don't assume a thin person will be ok. My few other gripes are very minor compared to this.

It is a problem for enough people that Infiniti has issued a technical service bulletin ( #03018) that will attempt to correct this situation. I am scheduled to have mine done Thurs. May 8th. To my knowledge no one has reported yet on the efficacy of this proposed solution. I will report back next weekend on the results.

A number of people also report that the Lumbar Support is up too high and causes discomfort. I tend to agree with this viewpoint.

I doubt you will be affected by the seat pain problem but it is worth making sure before spending this kind of money. Good luck and Happy Motoring!....GeeSpot

Anybody still bothered by the "cooked right foot" stuff that people used to complain about. Some people used to say that even with the climate control turned off and with the fresh air input selected, you would get very warm air blowing on your feet, even if the temperature outside was cool. My recollection is that a fair number of people were seeing this problem, but not everybody. Some people replied that they never turned the automatic climate control off, so it didn't matter to them.

Hi,

Once in a while my leg hurts in my G35, but on a long trip nothing happened. How did you find out about the tech. serv. bull. I would like to follow up.

Thanks

Tim Smith

Hello Tim,

a guy that goes by fnt over at FreshAlloys G35 forum posted it first (I think). He gave the TSB #. I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and it took a little while but they confirmed it. I then called the local dealership service manager. He had never heard of it, but checked his computer and confirmed the TSB# and subject. If the parts come in I will have the work done Thurs. May 8th. I will post my results on freshalloy under the seat problems thread.
