Quote: Did the cotter pin come out? I assume there's one there as the other cars whose axles I had to change had one but I haven't looked at the G.

Otherwise was there work done on the back and it wasn't torqued down enough?

I'm just curious about the reason
There's definitely a cotter pin. Noticed it when I did the TSB fix for axle click.

How are you confirming that the bearing is in fact good?

Yes there is a cotter pin, no it didn't come out. There is actually some space between where the nut is is and the cotter pin is.

I have never had any work done where the nut would have be touched and I am the only person working on my car....

the was no play on bearing. I took the bearing apart with my father in law who is a retired mechanic over 30 years in the business.

The bearings looked clean, no visible damage to any parts of the bearing at all. no noise when turning etc.................

I did replace it anyway do due to the damage to the hub assy. .

We did check the other side yesterday and that bearing feels fine. No noise, no play, etc....

Also, since I didn't need the parts for the other side I am willing to let them go at a discount.

If anyone needs the rear bearing and hub assy. email me at tomzphone@gmail.com probably $175 for both shipped somewhere near Maryland.
