Rattling noise after belt change

Alright so my G busted a serpentine belt this afternoon. I happened to be about a quarter mile from home and I made it into the driveway before too long.

My father in law helped me with the 2 belts since I've never done it before and he claimed it was an easy job. 2 hours later and we finally had it done.

This part may make someone cringe. He started off using a 9/16th socket to break loose the bolts of the tensioner pulleys, and ended up almost rounding one of the bolt heads. He ended up completely removing the pulley, taking a metric socket and knocking it onto the bolt with a hammer It all seemed to go well, he got the bolt loosened, and got the pulley back on, belts on, etc.

That being said, we now have the lovely sound below:

Now my question is, what the **** could be causing that sound? Did he mess up the bearing of the tensioner pulley? Or does this sound like a loose screw/bolt rattling around somewhere? The car runs fine, but that sound just suggests something is up and I'd rather not let it run that way.

Any suggestions/ideas are welcome!

Thanks.

First off, I dunno about US cars, but everything is metric on these cars. The pulley is a 14 mm I think and the tensioner bolt is the same.
I used a ratcheting box end wrench to get up in there for the pulley and just a deep socket with an extension for the tensioner.

Did you ensure that the pulley bolt was tightened after the tensioner bolt?
You will probably have to crawl under again to tighten up the belt more anyways since they do stretch.

Mine broke last month while I was an hour from home...at 10 pm...with the wife, our dog and a sleeping baby in the back. Luckily my factory battery is apparently really good and the HIDs don't draw much juice!

Best of luck. Probably somethin simple.

Pulley is 14mm and the tensioner is 12mm. Sounds like you didn't tighten up the pulley afterwards.

Check to make sure you have the washers/spacers in correct location, sounds like the stationery bearing dust shield is rubbing against pulley.

Chis, I'm surprised you have so much time to worry about your G... I thought most of your time was spent beating Rihanna

As stated above, take a day time video (preferably from above and below the car)

I'm with herrschaft, sounds like a loose pulley.
