Suspension Problem..Please Help??
I have a 2005 G35x. On the right (passanger) side front of the car, there is a clanking noise. Through little holes and small road imperfections you hear a clanking sound. I have changed the control arm and replaced the whole strut so i know its not that.. It really is driving me crazy. When i brake the sound goes away for some strange reason... and when driving over 60 mph on the highway there is a constant (sort of a constant basketball dribble) same sound but faster.... HELP PLEASE???
Search is your friend when it comes to suspension/brake noises! There's only one way to locate what's driving you nuts...take it to a independent brake/alignment shop and have them check everything out! The noise you describe as a basketball dribble could be a broken steel belt in your tire, where the belts are seperated.

As Gary said, take it to a wheel/tire/suspension shop and ask them to putit up on the lift and look for it. They usually do it for free. Then you can either have them do it, or just take it home and save yerself some dough and do it yourself.
I did bring it to several mechanics and they have brought it up on the lift and there is nothing that looks funky… Everything seems tight but the cv axle is leaking grease… Could this be the reason of the loud knocking/clanking ??
It could be the ball joint end of a compression rod. Mine made that sort of soundand was fixed when I replaced the right side one. Now the left is starting to make noise.

I had a similar experience, particularly at 20-40mph going over one-wheel bumps (liek sewer covers, potholes, etc). Drove me nuts because I couldn't find the source. Turned out to be the front sway bar "end links" (there are no end links; they're called something like stabilizer bar connecting rods). Replaced those and the noise was gone, and the steering was firmer.
Hope that helps.
Hope that helps.
Put the front of the car on jackstands. Take the wheel off. Grab a long prybar and just start moving and tugging on things. A rubber mallet to hit things would work as well/.
