Steering Radio Controls

Hello once again! I have read that its common for the steering radio controls to stop working. I have noticed my car doing the same thing, the switches will only work if the wheel is at certain position . From what i understand its not worth just replacing it because same thing will happen. How did everyone go about this problem ? I do use the controls a lot in my previous cars so i would like to solve this problem .thanks

it sounds like the clock spring in your steering column is going out. Thats the part that maintains an electrical connection but still allows you to rotate the steering wheel.

I've seen failures on the forum, but not that frequently. I'm still on my original at 155K

replace it based on: 1) How important is the feature to you? 2) How long do you plan on keeping the car? 3) Cost. It is a wearable item, but not something that goes out frequently.
