Strange I-Key Fob Issue
Strange Intelligent key / I-Key Issue
Key fobs only work when inside the car. The little button on the doors only work after pressing it many times. Key fobs don't work when not beside car.
Also the car loses detection of the key fobs while driving. Red key image in the dash.
I've used new Duracell, Energizer, and Maxell batteries but still no luck.
The key fobs work fully when I only use the chip without the case. But again only when right beside the car.
All this happened after I let my dad drive the car back in January.

Do a search on this forum. I remember a guy having similar issues where he had to use the physical key to get in but it would start using the Ikey once he was in the car. I don't know what the solution was. Good luck.
I also noticed my car battery will need to be replaced soon. Maybe this is the issue.
Both were working fine before.
Thanks for the response.

I've also been having issues with the horn occasionally going off when the door is opened.
I think it's the battery because the voltage reads 11.2 volts when off. The delearship did say the battery will need to be replaced soon back in March.

Now the horn goes off whenever I open the door when inside the car. It doesn't stop when I turn on the car. Even does it while driving.
It does not do this when I use the key. Only when using the key fob.

Must be something within your car, not the battery!
This ^ is too strange, replace the battery but I doubt if that's what's causing these issues. You may need to make a visit to Nissan! Be sure to follow up with the answer to all this craziness, we need answers to these kinda problems!

I forgot to mention that the second key fob unlocks and locks fine from distance but the buttons on the door handle don't work and the ignition is locked (red key light). Only works when using the mechanical key in the ignition.
With the other key fob, the fob buttons only work when inside the car and I am able to turn the car on without using the mechanical key.
