Evap valve impossible to put in

Hi all, I have an 04 g35x. Got a p0455 code so I decided to replace my valve. I got it off and sure enough it's messed up but I'm trying to put a new one in and it's being extremely difficult. Is there a particular angle?

Also, assuming I can't get it back in is it safe to drive without it? Right now the hose and plug is disconnected.

Also, if this is in the wrong forum I apologize.

Well with it unplugged you have a huge vacuum leak, and it's not fixing your code.

It goes in at a slightly off angle. It's been some time since I replaced mine, but not sure if it was 90 degrees to where it clicked into place. I do remember it took me a few tires to seat it.

Would it be okay if I crimped the hose and rubber banded it? Not ideal but I need the car for work tomorrow. Fortunately I don't have a crazy commute.

The old one came out at 90 degrees but the new valve won't go in all the way in. How hard did you have to push in to get it snuggly in place?

I don't really remember. All I remember was fumbling around for a bit trying to find the right angle. basically insert the valve and turn it 360 in a circle until ot popl in, then you give it a final twist to seat it.

I took a look at it again this morning. The trick is to angle it about 120 degrees. Once I had it the right way it was easy to push in and turn. I hooked everything back up and the ses light turned off after driving about 20 miles.

Thanks for your help!

Yes P0455

Didn't replace the canister, just the Evap valve that twists into it.

OEM is about $100, Aftermarket off rockauto.com about $40. I did aftermarket. 6 mos later still fine
