Alright so I'm needing some help I'm at a point of confusion and don't know what else to do. So my motor was knocking, got a motor switched them out everything is connected and we went and the car started fine, purred like a kitten, let it idle for over an hour, everything seemed fine til I tried to get gears, I could put the car in reverse neutral and drive and it would feel like it would grab and go into gear but when I touched the gas nothing but revving. Also my car would only rev up to about 2000-2500 rpms and wouldn't go any higher. So I was told I needed to reset my ecu, I did the pump the gas method that everyone does, when I got done with the test we turned the ignition switch off took the key out out it back in and now my car won't even start. On the "on" position before starting the car all my lights on my dash are on but my park, neutral, revers and drive indicator is just blank and remains that way when I put it into gears. Then when I go to start it the dash goes dark and it's just black no lights at all til I put it back to the on position. Tried redoing the ecu test over and over cause they say timing is critical but I've did it 4-5 times and had the timing pretty spot on and still nothing. My battery is perfectly fine. Idk what to do and I'm to the point of frustration and literally giving up. Idk what else to do. Any ideas and can someone maybe lead me into the right direction. Thanks..

I would start over by disconnecting the battery cables and allowing the whole system to reset. The computers in these cars can react in strange, unpredictable ways. Took my car to get smogged, and after they unhooked the OBDII cable from under my dash the car wouldn't start - just turned over and over without even trying to spark. Took the key out of the ignition, and got out, closed the door and locked the car with my key fob, counted 10 then unlocked with key fob, got in and started right away and drove off. Seems the computer decided we were trying to steal the car when messing around with the OBDII so it disabled the ignition. Technician said it's a quirky thing that happens every 100 cars or so. Your problem is obviously computer related - don't give up, as frustrating as it is, it's a great car and will be fine once diagnosed.

How long did it take to swap your motor? Do you have a DIY for it?

My brother did most of the work while I was working my full time job, but it was done in 3 leisurely days, could have been done in two if we hustled.

Sorry, no DIY on this one.
