gear indicator not showing gear and car not starting nor cranking
i was putting in a aftermarket double din in my car when i was finish installing it i went to see if it worked by putting on the key to accessory and when i did that i realized that the gear indicator wasnt showing that the car was in park so i decided to run through the gears to see if the rest would show up but they didnt it was blank so i went to start the car and when i tried that the car did not start it didnt even crank. what can be causing this ?
What year is your sedan? Automatic? Are you talking about the gear indicator in the instrument cluster? Does that normally show the gear in accessory mode? (I'm asking because I don't know.) It's easy to blow a fuse or two while doing the double din conversion...
I’ve check the battery. It’s working fine.i also change a couple of fuses.
when the key is in the “on” position, everything works fine (ie: AC; sunroof; radio; ) but when I try to turn it over I get nothing. No clicking, no noise. It just blanks out as if car isn’t in park or neutral
No crank is usually a failed starter, however there is a start relay in the IPDM that can fail as well. Troubleshoot both, there is also a PNP switch on the transmission and if your gear shift indicator isn't working either (like the problem in this OP thread) then it might have failed as well.
Dead battery, not enough current to engage the starter.
Either it's the battery or it's the cables. Disconnect everything, check both ends of EACH CABLE along with the entire length of the cable to make sure there's no corrosion or damage.
Also throw a charger on your battery, it's probably VERY low, doesn't matter that it's a new battery.
Even with a full battery it does the same thing. I even used a jump starter.
I also for got to mention that I also tried starting the car directly from the starter. (*i don’t know the exact term* but I basically connected a cable to the starter and the other end I tapped on the battery ) the engine cranked but wouldn’t turn over.

Did your new radio have a wire to connect it to your dash lights? Is it possible it's not compatible with the way these dashes are set up and shorting itself out? I'd try disconnecting that one wire before I did anything else. As regards starting make sure you didn't knock the switch loose on the shifter while the console top was off that detects whether its in park or neutral.

the car is completely stock.
And I went under the car to check if anything was loose and everything seemed in place and connected. Of course I’m not a mechanic nor do I know much about this type of thing so I could be looking in the wrong places
Front and rear cameras, tire pressure for all four tires can display on screen, folding side view mir

While you were under your car did you notice if the fiber board shroud was missing and was your vehicle ever involved in a flood or driven in water or heavy rain lately?
