New 2005 6MT - My Comments
Just picked up my new 2005 6MT base model in Lakeshore Slate/Stone. Only option was Sirius that I had the dealer install. Just got back from driving 4 hrs from my pick up point to bring it home. It now has 280 miles on it. Here are some comments, in no particular order:
1. The interior is way better than I remember. I have no options but it still comes loaded. I am 6'1" 220lbs and without the sunroof and in a very vertical seating position I have 2 inches over my head.
2. Love the Lakeshore with Stone interior. It has the Black dash which I prefer over the beige dash.
3. The base stereo is more than adequate for what I need. I was expecting a very bad stereo. I actually think it is pretty good.
4. The driver seat is very comfortable. I do feel the seat controls on my right leg but it isn't uncomfortable. It is almost as if I am looking for a feeling creeping up my leg. I felt no numbness or any discomfort after 4 hrs driving.
5. The engine is sweet. It gets deeper sounding and solid as the revs increase. I didn't notice any metallic sound at high revs like I read.
6. The service mgr. said there was no break in period, just don't redline it. At the 15k checkup he said they would adjust the computer to fit my driving style. My question, how do you adjust my driving style if it is a manual?
7. When I went in the trip computer I think I got into the Rev limiter set up by accident. I set it at 7k. Is that right?
8. I love the clock, driver display up on the dash. Much easier to see.
9. I do experience a reflection of the speedo and tach displays in the tint at the top of my windshield. This was a little annoying a first, but you don't see it after a while.
10. It does feel to me like the Automatic is a tad bit faster than the Manual. Maybe because I am concentrating on shifting rather than hanging on. I also am not pushing my new car like I did the demo. This could have a lot to do with it actually.
11. All in all I am extremely pleased. Much more so than I thought I would be. It is easy to get caught up in forum posts and problems that are very individual to one person, like the seats, stereo, interior, etc.
Couldn't have made a better decision. Very glad I did not get a TL. The G engine makes the car and is a joy to listen to everytime you start it and rev it.

I just got my 2005 M6 on Saturday and man it is a nice ride. Be sure to get yourself a ztube installed right away. You will really get a nice sound off the VQ through the rpm band. I like the TL still as well which is an excellent car IMO. Only problem is that it is FWD. Their bluetooth option at that price is cool as well. Our car is definitely a driver's car.

Agreed. The Bluetooth is extremely cool on the TL. I am looking into options to put it on the G. Anyone know of a set up for adding Bluetooth Handsfree in the G Sedan?
The GoodYear tires that comes standard on the 05 6MT. Are those the Turanza's that people don't like or are they different?
