Cheap short ram air intake from eBay. Only took 20 minutes to install. Not sure if I noticed much of a power improvement but it sure sounds cool when u get past 4 k rpm

Not exactly exciting but I got a spare key. Some bonehead at work lost his keys and paid $250 for emergency locksmith service. While the locksmith was on-site a bunch of us got spare encoded keys for our cars. $30 cash each!

My car only had one encoded key when I got it. Having a spare is always a good thing.

Drove it, checked the oil. 600 miles since the first oil change (since I bought it) and still showing full on the dipstick. My first Maxima would have been down at least a 1/3rd of a quart.

Hope you don't live in a hot climate, that's going to lose power big boy from the dreaded heatsoak since all it will suck in is hot air from the engine bay.

any chance wrapping it in header tape would help block some of the heat?

it's not even really an issue or radiant heat warming up the metal intake tube(although lots of people will say that won't help matters either)

its simply because the air filter is surrounded by hot air and its just suckign all that hot air in. With the factory air box(and stillen too), the filter is isolated from all the hot engine bay air and only fresh air from outside if getting inside the box and to the filter. So, if you built a box around the filter and took advantage of the factory ram air ducting you'd get the best of both worlds. That being said, I haven't seen many people attempt to make a air filter box.

The R2C is also an intake that seals against the hood and the fact they make all filters for the military I trust in them to make a great choice for us. Been rocking one for 6 years and wouldn't use a different one including OEM ever again.

Is this the one you speak of? its only 58$. Does that include the entire intake system (tubing, connectors, filter, etc?)

Those are just the filters for the dual intakes of the HR motor.

After a tune a bit. Slightly noticeable though, I just like the sound, look and the fact their filters are the shizz.

I run the 350Z version bcuz I don't have the OEM snorkel for airflow to the intake. I have a catch can mounted on top of the radiator. Bcuz the 350 version doesn't have part of the side cut out to accomodate the snorkel it seals completely against the hood.
