AC blows hot air

My 2003 g35 blows hot air. Last night tried to add freon and it wouldn't go in. I tried to add it in the correct line but no luck at all. Does anybody have a clue why? Is this some I could fix myself or should I take it to a mechanic?

Have you followed the troubleshooting steps in the FSM?

You may not be qualified to do this repair?

"CAUTION:
The new and former refrigerant connections use different O-ring configurations. Do not confuse O-
rings since they are not interchangeable. If a wrong O-ring is installed, refrigerant will leak at, or
around, the connection."

I tried adding the freon but it's as if it's blowing back in the can. What's a typical cost of taking it to a mechanic

well if it jsut needs to be charged it shouldnt be too bad. but if it needs to be charged that usually means there is a leak somewhere. to find and fix it will be another story on cost. depends on whats wrong.

Unless you hook up pressure gauges and confirm you have a leak, you really shouldn't blindly add a can of R-134a.

And if oyu have a leak, you really need to address that first. Topping off the system is merely kicking the can down the road as what could be a simple O-ring leak now, can turn into a new compressor down the road as moisture leaks into the system and corrodes things inside.

Unfortunately....A/C work is expensive, which is why people just dump a can of R-134a until the A/C kicks the bucket completely.

Well I was driving with the AC it magically started working again. I do have a metra kit installed as well. Could that be the culprit?
