For the kind of money Lexus gets you're in M35 territory. Next question..............JBX

Eh. Front end looks like a Pontiac to me. And I agree - for that kind of cash, I'm looking to an M instead.

The others already beat me to it - this car's price point puts it ahead of the G.

I don't know what the rest paid, but I was very pleased with the OTD price of my 05. Lexus didn't want to beat my 05 G price by very much on their 04 IS. I can imagine what these things will bring.

Not a bad looking car, but $40K buys a lot of nice cars. Including an M.

Nice car - I still would have bought my 05 G.

Looks nice but price is the key. I don't see Lexus making a better looking, better performing IS than what they have now for less money. I don't see anything betting the G.

Looks like a TL with a body kit. I'm not too crazy about the interior - no pizzazz. Like other's have said, by the time you ante up for the 350 engine.... pricey.

Front end looks like a TL and the rear looks like a mix of RX-7, Mazda 6. I just don't really care for the exterior styling. In fact I like the current generation styling better. It just seems that they are actually taking away the sportiness of the car with the new design when in fact they are trying to appeal more to enthusiasts or performance minded shoppers. I really don't see this as a 3 series/G35 beater. If these numbers are true then I am unimpressed.

"Sources indicate the IS 250’s V6 will produce about 205 hp compared with the current car’s 3.0-liter 215-hp inline six. In New York, Lexus also will announce a 3.5-liter 245-hp V6"

Bring out this V8 version and I will be impressed.

I like the styling, does anyone know if it will still be the same size, or are they making bigger to more match the G? IMO that is the only way it would be a true G35 competitor.

I think it looks great! Hopefully, it is bigger than the previous IS300....that is one of the main reason I got rid of my IS300 to get the G. One thing I can say for sure....bet it has less rattles than my 05 G.

I really like it. The interior is much better than my loaded 02 IS300. The exterior reminds me of a cross between the new GS and Scion Tc. Both of which are nice looking cars. My IS was nice and I would definitely look at the IS350 when my G lease is up.
I don't know where everyone got the prices, please post where you found them if you do, but the current IS is pretty much the same as the G. I don't think they would raise prices much and lose their current buyer.

yeah, the car is supposed to be a little longer (2.5 inches I think).. and from the looks of it (short trunk), most of it made its way to the back seat..

I like the rear and the interior, don't like the front (looks like a Camry or Avalon).. the IS250 should be comprable in price to a base G35 sedan (high $20k-low $30k), but with like 200-220 hp.. the IS350 will probably be higher up in price, closer to a loaded G35 coupe (on the high side of the mid $30ks), from what I've read.. also, you can be damn sure Toyota isnt going to put out the IS350 with only 245hp (rumor has it between 280-315)..

There's tons of info about the new IS at IS300.net.. spent a good chunk of my morning sifting through the BS over there..

Although the exterior styling does kind of look like a cross between the current Lexus IS300, the new '06 BMW 3 Series, and Mazda 6, it still catches my eye more so than the current IS300. If the new IS350 will in fact have 300HP+ and does 0-60 mph in less than 6 sec., I would seriously consider it over the new Infiniti M45 for my next car and save $8k-10k. If it's only 245HP-260HP, then forget it. I'm guessing that if the displacement on this 6-cyl. is up to 3.5L like in our G35's VQ, then Toyota/Lexus are aiming to seriously compete with around 300HP (and it's got to be b/c the new Toyota Avalon's bigger engine has 280HP, so it must be the same engine, producing at least 280HP)...this new IS350 has got to have 300HP or more.

Like someone already said, you know it will have all the interior goodies too. I've had 3 Lexus' before and loved the quality, craftsmanship, and service...tough to beat. I love my current Infiniti '04.5 G35 and '03 FX35, but it's nice to have more competitive options...he he ; and I still love Lexus!

Spec for Avalon is:

3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve Dual VVT-i V6
280 hp @ 6200 rpm
260 lb.-ft. @ 4700 rpm

If the same engine is apply to IS350.
I am guessing:
300 hp @ 6500 rpm
280 lb.-ft. @ 5000 rpm

Both numbers will Surpass the G35's.

Then early to mid 2007
2008 G40
VQ4.0
330 hp @ 7000 rpm
320 lb.-ft. @ 6000 rpm

Skyline GTR version will be available with 500hp and 450 lb.-ft AWD 8sp twin turbo.

Infinti still wins unless Lexus come out with IS500 mate with a hybrid engine.
