A trusted independent shop should be able to do a trans drain and fill right?

Are you freaking kidding me? I thought those prices were set by corporate and it's like $125 right now where I live. Find a shop that will use Matic-J or Matic-S (whatever they use) and have someone else do it.

You sure that price isn't a full powerflush?

I was quoted $200 for 5qts $215 for 5.5-6qts? Is this a DIY drain and fill? https://g35driver.com/forums/faq-diy...hange-diy.html Cause if it is I rather do this myself and buy the fluid off Nissan

That is the same process as you would need to do. Only thing I'd do different is definitely replace that crush washer on your drain bolt. They are a one time use. Measure how much fluid you drain and refill with the same amount. Reading that dipstick can be a pita with new fluid. I poured mine into an empty 5 qt oil jug to measure. And torque that drain bolt to 26 ft lbs.

Definitely replace the crush washer and do not lift the vehicle the way he did which is really dangerous. You want to lift the FRONT FIRST, support with jackstands THEN THE REAR, support with jackstands. The side rail jackstand points have little indentations in the frame so you know where the jackstands go, technically it's designed for rail adaptors for the jackstands, basically it's a rubber pad with a groove that fits over the rail but I've never had a problem.

If your vehicle is lowered you cut 4 pieces of 2x6 lumber and angle one side so you can drive up on the wood first to get an extra +1.5 inches of clearance to get a low profile jack under the car

Level gauge bolt (dipstick bolt) is 45 INCH/lbs torque

This video gives a good demonstration of how to PROPERLY lift a G.

Jacking up the car aint a problem lol. Seems as simple as a oil change. Only issue I’ll probably have is measuring how much fluid comes out/in. Should I buy 6qts of Matic S fluid just to be safe?

You can but you're not going to drain more than 5 out by draining the pan, you should check your fluid level now before draining it to see if it's already a little low. Make sure you check it properly, read the owners manual if you are unsure how.

If you are a tad low then buy 6.

When I do a drain and fill on the tranny, I use an empty milk jug with markings for each quart on the side. That way you can tell how much came out and how much will need to go back in unless like Cleric said you started a little low. Usually my car drains out between 3.5-4 qts, I believe the transmission holds a little over 10 qts. total. Best place to buy Matic S (or J) is ebay or amazon. Dealerships charge an arm and a leg for this sh*t.

Just spent $200 at Nissan for it. I asked if they can use Matic S but they recommended the J cause the tranny is use to it I guess. $14/ qt and like $120 for labor smh. Atleast I know its done right 😅

Not really, not sure if im the only one but whenever u shift up u gotta wait like .5 seconds for it to actually shift. Its really smooth though not like it was having any problems before. The triptonic doesnt seem to have any issues now.
