Transmission differences
Hey guys,
I looked around but couldn't find anything on this topic (if i missed a thread that anyone knows of, can u drop the link below??). I have a 2003 AT, and i am wondering which AT will be a direct replacement to mine. I will need a new tranny soon, but there seems to be different variations depending on the year. If anyone has some advice please let me know!!

You need to pull off the panel in the passenger seat area and find out if you have the external TCM, you should be able to use any G35 transmission but there was a major revision that decided where the TCM was installed. Keep in mind that either style will work it just depends on if you are capable of swapping out the valve body and harnesses to match what you need.
You probably have the 3 green harnesses on your transmission if so just get another one that looks physically the same and ignore all the various component revisions because there's "technically" like 25 different transmissions for the G35 if you count every revision type. Most of that crap was changing vendors for the solenoids, gears, screws, etc but they all perform the same mechanically and are all physically interchangeable between 2003 and 2006 but the internal vs. external TCM is the only MAJOR difference that would prevent you from doing a direct bolt-on swap.

The issue is the car is not responding once in drive and very slow response in neutral. Already changed the throttle body and Maf sensor but the car remains the same. Seems the car is limp mode but already tried everything to take it off so now I’m thinking it can be the tcm not matching with the ecm.
