I have a g35x sedan with a rusted exhaust. What are my options for a cost effective replacement? I need the cat back.

Try Rockauto, they have a good selection of decent parts but I haven't looked for anything X related.

I got a megan racing y-pipe for about 150 from ebay or amazon. a coupe mid from craigslist for 100 but you can sometimes get oem sedan mid pipes for free if you can find one local to clear out somebody's garage after they swapped in a coupe mid. still running my original muffler though the flange is gone and leaking. i see bosal and other mufflers for about 150. that's about the cheapest stuff i could find. mine was all rusted out too. the worst part is if you have to pay somebody to put all the cheap stuff on for you if things are too rusted to come apart.

I bought a Megan and the flex pipes rotted away within 2/3 years, so I put a Walker on there now from RockAuto. If you plan on doing it yourself make sure you get replacement gaskets, cutting wheels, and some MAPP gas. It's not too difficult to replace just messy and wear safety glasses.

I had Meineke weld a sleeve where my muffler gasket was as well for 150 bucks. That rotted away in 2/3 years as well, so I fixed it with a 15 dollar roll of Fibawrap (it's like a cast, but resists high temps).

07/08 350z Y pipes work as well. I'm trying to figure out if an after market replacement will work also. Somve the OEM does.

I have a 05 G35x, AWD on some 19” aftermarket rims. Tinted windows. Automatic Transmission 😔
Megan OE RS

so I have a 2005 g35x, and I’ve been searching like crazy to find the answer, I have an aftermarket mid pipe, all I need is a muffler and I’ve been looking at the Megan OE RS muffler but like someone else on this thread said, all the company’s say RWD.. it’s frustrating that I can’t get a straight answer from anyone. So I figured I would try here. Will it fit my 05 g35x?? Or will I have to modify some stuff for it to fit. I see a lot of people with their g35x with The OE RS muffler on their cars... I’ve been frying my brain trying to figure it out.

As far as I know there's nothing different on the rear of an AWD equipped vehicle. The only differences was coupe/sedan.

As a former sedanX owner, this was my understanding too. The rear ends are identical (except for the sway bar; slightly beefier on the base RWD). It's the front end where the differences are seen.

However, exhaust routing is different on AWD to get around the front transfer case/propeller shaft assembly. I would not expect this to affect the muffler, but stranger things have happened.

Edit: I should note that I had 06 sedanX. Shouldn't be any differences with your 05.

All your troubles are over my friend as I have the answer you seek. The Megan muffler will fit your X just fine. Since you have an 05 it'll fit with no issues, the 03-04 sedans use a different muffler bracket for mounting but the Megan is configured for the 05-06. Also the midpipe for the 05-06 sedans is the same for base and X models, it's just the Y-pipe that varies. So buy with confidence, install that bad boy (I really like the burnt tips) and enjoy one of the better sounding exhausts for the sedan.
