Thanks for taking the time to post this, turned out great especially with that interior color scheme!
I have the same issue on my 03, and will tackle this in the summer months.
I have the wood trim which i am not really a fan of, so i might recover them with while i fix the upholstery - maybe carbon fiber vinyl or something, trying not to make it look cheap/tacky

An update to mine, I am surprised how well it is holding up. The installation of the piping is not within any wear area where I grab the door or rest my arms. Considering this I probably used too much glue when I installed mine. A little dab here and there should work, don't need to try a thing continuous bead. The piping almost has enough friction to hold itself between the door card and door foam padding, so test fit completely before adding glue. Super glue can be the enemy because it may try to stain the door card or melt the foam backing.
