For those of you who have been complaining about poor gas mileage, I have to say that I'm SO impressed with how our 2005 G35 performed this weekend.

I was taking my wife out to go see the Cirque Du Soleil show Ka in Las Vegas this weekend for her Christmas gift and decided to forgo taking my GAS GUZZLING truck there and drove the more comfortable ride there. Besides the fact that I figured she would be sleeping most of the way and I could open her up on the long straights and see how she does at cruising speeds

Anyhow, after making it to Las Vegas from Orange County California and back to state line on only 3/4 of a gas tank I was completely impressed. I don't remember the EXACT mileage (somewhere over 320) and the exact gallons of gas when I refueled, but I know that it calculated out to 21.56mpg. If my calculations are correct it was around 14.84 gallons. That was incredible considering my truck can BARELY make it to Vegas on a tank of 26 gallons!

Obviously this was all highway driving and it really lived up to my expectations of decent mileage because I know I averaged around 85 mph, and was easily able to bring this quick little sedan up to 100 with ease, but quickly dropping it back off knowing how well the CHP love to catch guys on the 15 out to Vegas.

Anyhow this is just a quick and hope filled post for those guys that say the gas mileage on the window sticker is inaccurate.

My overall mileage since I purchased the car is just over 20 mpg, including city.

My city mileage seems to be 16-17 mpg, highway 22-24. (Generally at 75mpg on highway).

I made a 220 mile trip Friday morning - roughly half of it was interstate driving at between 75 and 85, the rest was fun twisties down into a lake valley, back up out of the valley, then some more fun up and back down around an small local mountain. I got 22.2 mpg on that trip. Two thumbs up from me!

Yesterday I went from San Diego to various spots along the coast (101) in Orange County.

Some open road, some stop and go.

21.5 mpg.

I was also impressed because I wasn't even trying to save gas (i.e. keeping the speed around 70mph w/ cruise control).

On my trip to vegas wed, I got 24mpg. That was traveling about 75-85. On the way back traveling at 90 I got about 23mpg. I thought the MPG would be better, but oh well.

My mileage improved to 22MPG on my second tank. I wouldn't call that "great," but for a car in this class it's ok.

When gas prices hit $4.00/gal at the end of the year, we'll see how "great" we consider the mileage!

Last tank was almost 100% freeway. 395 miles/16.1 gallons -------> 24.5 mpg.

I usually average 21 mph with about 2/3 freeway & 1/3 city (coupe).

ok so it looks like my mileage isn't spectacular by any means for this car, but coming from a V8 Gas Guzzling truck I absolutely LOVE IT. I am thrilled that a car in this class with a very adequately sized engine can get very decent mileage IMO and still pass as if the other cars were standing still!

I just swapped my 2004 coupe for a 2005 sedan. Love the changes, and extra room. I was getting a solid 19mpg on the coupe. From reading all the comments, I hope for better mileage on the sedan (please please please...)

They both claim the same mpg, but wow, my coupe sure was sucking it down. Great info guys, nice post.

I'm not impressed at all with the G35's gas milege. My Mark VIII (4.6 DOHC) easily gets 25mpg on the freeway.

These car's reward or penalize you for rev's and use of the throttle. If I take it easy, I can get 32mpg on the highway doing 65mph. In town I average 17mpg. Last tankfull city/highway combined, I got 23mpg (late to work a few times). Now that's it's warmer I'll have the temptation to hear my exhaust with the window's down, doesn't help the mpg.

Exactly right....I hotrod around town, and get about 17-19, and averaging about 25 on the freeway, but I bought the car NOT to worry about the gas mileage, rather have the power and the luxury of a very sweet car....My 04 Avalanche got 12-13 so I'll take 19 any day
