Sway Bar Link - Help

I'm currently working on the front suspension of my 05 X. I put new sway bar links on a new lower control arm, but I can't get the nut on the control arm end of the link to tighten down. I tried using a C clamp to tighten the link to the control arm, but the nut still just spins with the ball joint on the control arm. I'm even using my Milwaukee high torque impact wrench; still no dice.

I'm looking for any suggestions that will work, or possibly someone else has had issues tightening this nut on their G35X. Thanks in advance.

I did the same thing you did with the c-clamp and was able to get it to the spec. You only have to get it to 23 ft-lbs to be in spec. But I couldn't get it much tighter before it would spin the ball joint. But I could get the torque wrench to click. Your impact wrench is going to spin the hell out of it. Do it by hand and see what number you get to.

On the back side there is usually a slight groove where you can get a wrench on to keep it from spinning.

No groove on these ones unfortunately. I tried sticking some needle nose between the ball joints and sway bar but there just wasn't enough room. I also tried using the box end of a wrench to tighten slowly with the c-clamp; no luck.

Fortunately, having the weight of the vehicle on it allowed me to tighten it to spec. Hooray!
