Oil Consumption Normal?

I've been oil changing my 06 G35x every 5k miles. Just recently noticed when I drain it only leaves me with about 3QT. So it's roughly missing 2QT every 5k. Is this normal for a 120k car, or should I check it out to prevent any other issues?

And you should be checking and topping off your oil weekly.

My 04' has ate that much or more since it had 125k on it. My 05' with 160k does too. I check and fill them every 1-2 weeks. The oil rings wear down, get caked up and they start to eat oil, a hone and rering would fix it but most people don't want to go through that much work to fix it.

You need to check your oil level frequently! You have no idea when the first quart went missing or what running that low did to your engine, and then there's the second quart! Best way is to check your dip stick in the morning before you leave home, all the oil is in your pan so you get a true reading!

Pretty typical with the VQ35, my first Maxima went through a quart every 1500-1800 miles. My G35, a quart every 5000 or so miles. Its not my daily driver so I only have to check the oil about once a month.
