headlight upgrade

i am a proud new owner of a 4 door g35, unfortunatly it came with normal lights and not the HID. I was wondering if anyone knew of a somewaht inexensive way to get the HID kit. Or if someone knows of just lightbulbs that are real true HID looking.

I put the Sylvania Silverstars in mine. Changed out highs and low beams. Very white and much, much brighter than stock. Very white, not blue at all. Not sure if that is what you're looking for. BIG improvement over the stock bulbs.

Lightbulb

NO halogen bulb can replicate HID. True performing HID in a halogen with the same stock rating, not possible. True looking, well opinions vary. You can purchase "blue" bulbs and make your car look tacky and dim.
For the long haul, it is a better idea to get the full OEM G35 HID headlamps assemblies and swap them out. Your true HID will last longer, look better and have the lighting performance that we all need at night.
Going this route is an especially good idea if you hate replacing bulbs back there every few months (depending on drive).

Silverstars are whiter because of the coating on the bulb. However, they are not brighter than your typical standard halogen bulb. Objects do reflect better because of the Kelvin color, but again it's not brighter.

Unhappy

Aftermarket kits MAY be avallable for this car, depending on the type of bulb used. 9006? 9005? etc. If its a standard type, you may get lucky. Price, however, is another thing. Most aftermarket kits I have seen run 800 to 1200 dollars. Remember, it's not just a bulb replacement, you must also add the ballast units for each bulb. These are high voltage power supplies. Not cheap.

Hidexpress.com can fix all you need for the headlights. They have the HID kit. Also pretty aftermarket bulbs.

After checking on their website, they list a 9005 bulb HID kit. Is this the one for the high beams? It says it's for the low.

Our low beams (non-HID) are H1 bulbs. You can buy just a ballast-and-bulb kit and put it in your existing light assembly w/ very little modification. There should be no problems w/ anything as most of these are plug-n-play. You can get an x-tec kit from M3motorwerks.com for $345 (the car manufacturer doesn't matter, only bulb type). Most common color temp is 5000-6000K.

why don't you change yours to a projector then??
Someone in the coupe forum is offering to do it for people but you gotta find your own projectors.

Unhappy HID High beams

I don't want to go to THAT much trouble, I just want to change the color temp of the high beam so that they more closely match the Low Beams.
