Exclamation I CRASHED MY G!! But I'm gonna fix it!!

What's up guys?!?! Been a while since I've posted.

Long story short, A stranger in another car and I may have been competitively driving at high speed. I over steered a bit and hit a high curb doing around 85 mph. I completely destroyed my RF suspension and took out the rear rim and tire as well. The good news is I can fix all of this on my own and I'm going to document it here. Below are pics of the carnage. The front bumper cover got ruined as well while putting it on the flatbed.

STAY TUNED!! More to come very soon.

Looks like you need a new front crossmember as well, definitely bent, probably destroyed the R&P as well so add that to the shopping list.

Before you toss the tires I'm curious what the DOT date stamp is, it's an oval or elongated circle that will have FOUR numbers inside it, sort of looks like this.

But some manufacturers include letters in their date code. The tires in this picture were manufactured on the 10'th week of 2014 = 1014

How old were YOUR tires? Not "when did you have them installed", or "how much tread depth was left". What's the date stamp say?

I bought them earlier this year. Rack and pinion is fine. Not leaking or bent. I'll fix the cross member as well.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say when you are done with it (with your own 2 hands), you will not be able to drive it safely in a "competitive" situation. That curb at 85 (or more I'm guessing) did more damage than you can see or cleric mentioned.

Good luck all the same. I hope you can at least put it back together and make it road worthy for posted speeds.

It's hard to say without putting it on a frame straightener and actually lasering it out to know for sure. These unibodies are pretty damned stout and usually you can SEE structural damage, plus it sounds like he just understeered into a curb which doesn't usually destroy the car on it's own, the significant damage is usually what you hit AFTER you lose a tire like that and it doesn't appear to be the case here.

Still curious what the date stamp on the tires are though, when you BOUGHT them is irrelevant, when they were MADE is everything.

Call around early (like now) and start talking to folks in town who do frame straightening, find out how much they charge for an alignment plus checking for square/flex/warp on the unibody all as a package deal.

I just rebuilt my entire front suspension, including inner/outer tie rods, using moog and beck/arnley parts off rockauto. All in it was about $1000-$1100 for the parts I believe. (Canadian dollars).

If yours is an X, watch out with the lower ball joints though! I ordered and installed the beck/arnley ball joints, however after reading other threads I believe they only sell the ball joints for the RWD model. I have a distinct clunk on both sides in the front lower suspension when going over small bumps, it wasn't there before I changed everything out.

Tore it all down and it doesn't look that bad. I still have to take the fender off but I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Some of the broken parts.

Scored all of the parts I need for the suspension from a local LKQ. Parts are off the exact same year and trim as mine with 60k on the car. I took it all out in one assembly.

Took the fender off and took a pic of the damaged front wheel. I was lucky that my rotor, caliper and caliper bracket were undamaged. The only damage was the bleeder on the caliper got creamed. $5 from advance auto.

Got the suspension in!! Went in super easy with no real issues. Transferred my brake parts. One little hiccup along the way. I noticed my RR lower trailing arm got bent (forgot to take a pic). Sounds like a good time to swap in adjustables to me!!

Nice progress. You are definitely doing this the cost efficient way. Make sure to get an alignment after!

SHE LIVES!!! Kinda.... Well I found 2 stock sport wheels at a local yard that pulls all the parts for you. They were 100 bucks each with sensors but painted with no tires. More than I wanted to pay. Mounted some cheap new rubber to them and one of them took 6oz to balance!!! HOLY ****!! Has to be bent. Kind of pissed about that so I'm going to call the yard I got them from and see what they'll do to help, if anything.

She drove shockingly well for still having a bent RR lower trailing arm and the front alignment being out!! Got all of my lights to clear except the TPS light. I think I have to calibrate those... I haven't looked into it yet.

I'm going to order adjustable rear trailing arms since they're so cheap. Still need a bumper cover and a fender.
