Problems with my 2003 sedan G35

Hello I recently just bought my first g35. I got it for a good price but it ended up coming with some problems. When I drove it home I started noticing how tight and hard the steering wheel was to turn. When I got back I immediately got 4 brand new tires and got it balanced. The steering to the right loosen up but to the left is still tight.. I also came in contact with another problem when I go over 40 - 50 miles an hour the car kinda goes back and forth and wants to stop on its own power. From the seems of it the front rotors or breaks needs to be replaced but it seems to be more then that. My mechanic over the phone says it needs new struts , Tire rod ends , or control arms. But from reading another thread they said it needed a new compression rod. Hoping you guys could help me out because mechanic says parts could differ from 7-800 and I need to know the exact part that is making my car bog and death wobble at High speeds .

Hard to understand exactly what you're saying, that post feels like a half dozen unrelated thoughts all bleeding onto one another.

If I understand correctly

-Steering wheel is tight, usually a failing lower steering u-joint, take some WD-40 and spray the crap out of it. This will buy you some time to get it replaced.

-You replaced the tires because of steering issues??? This doesn't make any sense mechanically, but your alignment is probably off if it pulls more to one direction than the other. Get the car aligned, they will also tell you if any other components are worn and in need of replacing.

-Car feels like it wants to stop on it's own, usually this is a stuck brake caliper, the brakes will QUICKLY be destroyed so expect to replace pads on the front/rear depending on where the caliper is stuck. Jack up the vehicle and spin the tires by hand to find the sticking caliper. You can grease the slide pins (disassemble and metal bottle brush the hole to make sure it's not all corroded up), they typically stick because of people not knowing how to do a proper brake job which includes greasing the slide pins.

When a caliper sticks it usually overheats the rotor which causes them to warp. So figure that you're going to need at least one.

No one on the internet is going to be able to positively identify which part of your sports car multi link suspension is causing your problems. It's a good bet that if you have more than 100k on the suspension that then ENTIRE thing is shot and will need full bushings, compression rod, wheel bearings, inner/outer tie rod ends, sway bar end links, ball joints, struts.

Price of owning a luxury sports car, luxury = expensive repairs, sports car = expensive repairs.

Doing the work yourself will save a significant amount of $ in labor since most shops charge $125/hr for work.

Thank you for the advice... I will take a video of the sounds and what it looks like at high speeds .. I was thinking the same thing about the sticky brakes but the car has exactly 158k miles. If you were to say the whole entire suspension would need replacing how much am I looking at in parts ?

You can buy budget kits that have all the components needed, google search "g35 front suspension kit", it's usually like $375 each for front or rear with shipping for a cheap kit. Struts your best bet is KYB excel-g, $275 for all 4. Brakes I would wait to see what the actual problem is, you might not even need to buy a caliper or rotor. Same with wheel bearings, wait until someone actually looks at them to see if they're worn out or not.

Your mechanic might recommend just replacing everything while he's in there since it all has to come apart anyways and you'll save labor $ by just replacing it all in one shot.

Front kit $375
Rear kit $375
4 corner strut $275
Front/rear cheap brakes/rotors $200
4 wheel bearings with hub (usually cheaper than paying a mechanic to press off the old hubs) $150

That's everything needed to rebuild both the front and rear with cheap components for about $1375 not including labor which will be at least 8 hours. Just guessing prices.

For cheap parts cross-shop between Rockauto.com 1AAuto.com and Carparts.com for the best prices. You'll get 60-80k miles out of those cheap kits.

If you can I recommend replacing any many of those parts as you can @ once. Like cleric said its with so many miles all of those partslikely need to be replaced. The good news is you can replace most at once! Rock auto is a great resource I use regularly! I've ordered struts, bushings, end links ..from them and I was pleased with the product. Good luck!
