05 ignition switch replaced

A local (Phx, AZ) locksmith replaced my original ignition switch with an aftermarket ignition switch. The problem is the new key that came with new IS isn't pairing with the computer or the ignition switch isn't pairing. When he programed the new key it would start the vehicle while the programing apparatus was plugged in but once he unplugged it and turned off the vehicle the key wouldn't save the program. I'm at my wits end with this situation any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

His machine just isn't working with the BCM for whatever reason, go to the dealership.

When Nissan introduced the Intelligent Key system they changed ALL the BCM's (not just iKey equipped) to use CAN instead of K-line.

Basically what they did was in the older G35 you would plug in and talk to the ECM and the ECM would then talk to all the other modules, with the iKey BCM era they made it so the only way to talk to the BCM was DIRECTLY talking to the BCM via CAN, not "talk to the ECM over k-line and the ECM then talks to the rest of the modules over CAN and tells you the information".

Dealership Consult-II will talk to EVERY module over CAN independently. It's their proprietary software designed specifically for the car.

It's also likely that there are other independent locksmiths in your area that will be able to program the key, just make sure to let them know it's a CANBUS computer they need to talk to not a k-line one.

Thank you for the information, makes all the sense.
