Walbro 450 in sedan fuel pump assembly?
Walbro 450 in sedan fuel pump assembly?
Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm in the process of doing an LS swap on my '03 Sedan. I went to upgrade the fuel pump to a Walbro 450, and realized the fuel pump assembly is completely different than the G35 Coupes and 350zs. Is there any way to make the 450 pump fit in the sedan assembly? If not, can I run a coupe/350z assembly? I've tried searching high and low and can't seem to find an answer...
Post a picture of it, I thought all the pump assemblies were functionally identical. I know when you purchase replacement stuff the sedan-specific bagged parts only have the pump/strainer but when ordered for the coupe it has the entire assembly.
Huh yeah that's interesting, must be an early 2003 thing and I bet that car came with the non-tunable ECM as well.
I would just start taking it apart since I bet it has all the same components and it's probably just a chassis/housing design change they made. Or you could hit up a local pick-n-pull wrecking yard and pull the pump off a donor since the harness and feed line should be the same.
That housing is probably the reason why the sedan fuel pump kit from the dealership does NOT include the basket, because they're different looking. The fuel pump is the same regardless of year though.

i ended up using a coupe/350z fuel pump assembly.
Good to know..i was wondering if it fit okay

I'm almost certain it's the same gas tank in the coupe, sedan, and the 350Z. I've compared them side-by-side and they look identical. Should be able to take any pump that came in those tanks and put it in yours.
Only real choice is the junkyard
I was struggling to find one for weeks until I realized my only option is the junkyard for replacements. Regarding upgrades I have no clue for the sedans.
It's a different venturi valve hose and attachment to the pump on the sedan and coupe, you can pull the venturi hose off a coupe and put it in your sedan, then you can use the coupe pump.
You need the whole hose, it's attached to the bottom of the tank right by the saddle, it's INSIDE the tank so you need some long chem gloves to reach it if you have fuel in the tank. I would siphon it out into gas cans if the tank was full.
You could also pull one from a 350Z since I think they use the same style venturi as the coupe.
