03-04 exhaust systems wont work on 05 sedans

Just posting this as an FYI.. but I went down to my friend's shop to get my HKS exhaust installed and we found out that the 2005 sedan has a different muffler hanger than the 03-04.. I didnt have my camera or I would've taken pics.. but basically, the 05 has one donut after the muffler (right before it bolts to the midpipe) and ONE donut to the right of the tips (if you're looking from the back).. the 03-04, from what I figure, has the one before the midpipe and TWO, one on each side of the tips, in the rear.. in any case, it looks like I can order an 03-04 rear muffler hanger and 2 of the rubber donuts and I should be able install the exhaust..

You think it has anything to do with the redesigned 05 rear bumper? Call me oblivious, but I dont see anything immediately different about an 03-04 rear bumper compared to an 05.. but I have to admit that I never really looked closely either.. if the 05 extends lower, it would make sense, kind of..

I'm guessing no one has ever installed an exhaust system on a 05 sedan, otherwise this would be public knowledge? or did I miss something?

I contacted Justin at EverythingG35.com since they seemed to be the only ones on G35driver to ever install an exhaust on a 2005 sedan. Justin confirmed that the 2005 will need the exhaust bracket from a 2004 G35 sedan to install current exhaust systems out on the market. But Justin went one step further and created a one-click solution for the 2005 owners..

Its $31.91 for all the hardware necessary to install a 2003-2004 sedan exhaust on a 2005. I just ordered one and should have it by Friday. I'll re-attempt installation again on Saturday. I'll update after.

I saw this was bumped to the top so I thought I'd update.. I'm going to attach some pics so people with 05s can see what exactly is different.. basically, the hanger is completely different.. the 05 uses like a bracket with the integrated "rubber donut".. the 03-04 uses a hanger with a rubber donut that holds up the muffler hanger.. its hard to explain.. but if you saw it, you'd know what I was talking about.. anyway, here are the pics:

Oh, yes they do !!!!!

the new Stillen Cat-back does, in fact, fit the 05' as well as the X AND 04' 03' RWD's as well. G o for it!!!

Good pics...does this apply to the bracket that holds the coupe midpipe?

If so, what is needed to make the pipe fit properly?

Thanks.

Is the resonator different on the 2005 than on the 2003/4 as well?
