Tire Rating

Hmmm...on a whim I just checked the OEM tire speed rating on my 6MT...It seems that Infiniti has placed the Bridgestone V rated tires on my car when the website clearly states in at least 2 places that the 6MT comes with "W" low profile tires. What should I do? Have any other 6MT'ers noticed this???

Here follows the text copied and pasted from Infiniti's site:

UNDER HANDLING:
Control begins with the wheels. Available 5-spoke, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels offer a bold look and bolder performance: They come with W-rated, low-profile performance tires that enhance traction and ride quality. Grip is precise. Braking, quick. Exhilaration, assured.

AND UNDER SPECS:
Tires

Base Model 205/65R16 V-rated all-season performance
235/50R17 V-rated all-season rear tire

Leather Model 215/55R17 V-rated all-season performance

Leather 6MT Model 215/55R17 W-rated all-season performance

Re: Tire Rating

Did you get the winter package? The winter package comes with all-season tires (the Bridgestones), even if it's combined with the sport-tuned suspension package.

Well look at this way... you'll most likely get better life out of the V rated tires, you probably would not be able to tell any difference in traction between the two (not sure about ride quality), and how often do you plan to exceed 149MPH?

Re: Tire Rating

Moz,

Your car was probably suppose to come with the Goodyear Gsd. Unless you have winter package as someone already stated. However I have noticed looking at g's at dealers even without the winter package g35 sport model equiped with the bridgestones. There are a few conclusions you can make from this either infiniti is using less Good years for various reasons (complaints etc ect) On the other hand if in your case you don't have the winter package you could make a ggod argument to the dealer and demand w rated tires since it is specifically mentioned on the infiniti website and brochure.

Yep...that's it..thanks for the answers....so I guess you can't get heated seats with the summer rubber.....That's a bummer...I would have liked the harder tires....I think they should at least give you a choice...Even If I lived in California I would want heated seats....They're great for warming up your back before golf!

If you don't have that many miles on the car, you may be able to get the dealer to swap them out for you.

I like the Bridgestones. They're quieter and more comfortable for day-to-day driving, though I'll be "upgrading" when they wear out, to see what I'm missing.

Re: Tire Rating

I had Pilot Sports on my Bimmer...THOSE are some awesome tires...very little slip...you get all of the available power on the road....and these were on an M5 with 400 pounds of torque. As for the Bridgestones...they aren't bad but I noticed VDC kicking in on a 3rd gear shift...I dont think that would happen with stickier tires...

Re: Tire Rating

How bout at least putting the button in a place where you don't pop your trunk trying to turn VDC off!

Re: Tire Rating

Also, as an afterthought, I think the quarter-mile times would improve by at least a tenth with stickier tires.
