Re: 5AT Sedan vs 6MT Sedan

0-60 = driver dependent or same driver 6mt smidge quicker
1/4 mile 6mt quicker, less driver dependent.

Twisty mountain road, 5AT can't compeat. You'll be able to grab the right gear every time in the 6MT, something the 5AT simply can't do, even if driven in the manuel mode.

Re: 5AT Sedan vs 6MT Sedan

I think the twisty mountain road would lean more towards driver skill. Knowing when to brake, where to apex the corner, how to be smooth on the inputs, etc.

it's all driver......

If both drivers were identical, the 6MT will beat the 5AT everytime....

...unless both drivers suck, in which case the 5AT might have an advantage...

0-60, MT will be quicker on paper by pro driver. In reality from traffic lights, AT will be quicker for sure unless the MT driver burn his/her wheels and drop clutch at 4000rpm

Re: 5AT Sedan vs 6MT Sedan

In the word of twisty mountain driving where rapid braking and being in the right gear coming out of a corner's mean's everything, the automatic is a ineffective performance parter in that respect. It is incapible of being munipulated in a fashion like that manuel can. That inability, means anyone in a manuel that know's how to drive it will always be in the right gear for the best acceleration, vs only some of the time. Not to mention not getting distracted trying to get the auto to do something is won't do.

You haven't played with the auto much, have you?

And yes, if they know how to drive it, the manual can get into the right gear quicker. But the automanual can certainly get into a gear quick enough.

Re: 5AT Sedan vs 6MT Sedan

On paper(Mag times) the manual will win, but in reality 7 times out of 10 the auto will win in a straight line run. Most people cant drive manuals to their potential and always mention Mag. times, in the real world if you dont launch/shift a manual correct the auto will win. The difference in performance isnt that great anymore.

Re: 5AT Sedan vs 6MT Sedan

I agree, not much time at all. We need to remember that the autos weight more than the manuals.-Weight bonus the 6MT. The fact that many of you will never be able to shift your 6MT as quickly as a pro makes it- a negative(bragging rights only)
We can bench race all day but the real world is where it matters. If the 6MT crowd will eat up their clutches then they should have some type of advantage and not in their wallets. As for the twisty mountain roads...if you can hang great if not you're in for a real shocker 5 speed auto style.

Re: Ryoken

Spoken like a true 5AT driver.

And.. and.. you don't get rear A/C vents with the manual.. and.. the center bin is smaller! So there!
