Taking a Turn?

What is the top speed a G sedan can take a turn at? And how sharp?

Sorry, that's an impossible question to answer. Randys_G has written about going into a turn on the roval at California Speedway at 145mph, while at the same time I can't turn into my driveway at more than about 15mph without taking out the mailbox.

The answer depends more on the driver than the car.

Velocity, acceleration, braking, turn radius, tires, pavement surface and surface changes are just some of the factors that influence the answer for every INDIVIDUAL turn. The driver must know, be able to judge (or guess) most of these factors and compensate for errors to execute a turn at the highest controllable speed.

I suppose there is a maximum theoretical speed, if you knew the right math you could calculate the maximum...but it wouldn't give you a real world answer.

You have a problem then. It is obvious that your mailbox is improperly positioned at the front of your driveway.

Here is what u do. Aproach the turn at full speed lift off the gas but dont brake and turn the wheel as fast as you can. Then see how good you can go around the turn. Or if you got a RWD G Wait till its a rainy day turn off the Traction Control and go around a turn at a normal speed then in the middle of the turn gun the Gas and turn the wheel sharply.

Well, I've been testing all day for you, and I came up with 42.761 MPH for a turn as sharp as the one I used.

Don't listen to those people who say you need to know the specifics about the car, suspension, tires, turn, road surface, weather, driver, etc., none of those thing matter. They're just too lazy to test it for you like I did.

You're welcome.

Tony
