Question Whining sound when G sedan is first started

Hi all,
I have an 05 G sedan and I don't know if it's just my car but everytime I start my car, whether it's in the morning or anytime after a drive, I can hear this "whining" sound/noise coming from the rear cabin of the car. You'll have to have the radio turned off or to "0" to hear this "whining" sound. The sound usually comes when the RPM' is around the 1100-1200 range. It only lasts for about 5 secs or so.

Please let me know if it's just my car or does other G sedans, years 03-05 have them? Thanks.

I remember getting that sound in my Accord. Sounds almost like a turbo haha.

I would second the fuel pump. If you remove your back seat (very easy-2 clips) the sound is magnified substantially. You can even hear it with the motor running.

EDIT: After re-reading your original post, it might be some emissions-related sound, like the EVAP cannister purge.

You actually hear it better when you turn the key to "on" but not all the way to "start". Sounds like the fuel pump to me also.

From the rear it's gotta be the fuel pump.

So, does that sound appear to consistent with all sedan owners? Should a fuel pump be making a "whining" sound. Perhaps, it more like a vibration sound. Whatever it is, can sedan owners validate that it's apparent on their cars as well? if not, I may have to take my sedan to the dealership. Thanks.

Over 23 years in the USAF didn`t do my hearing any good, but I`ve never heard my fuel pump (or anything else) whine like that.
